Six Flags announces opening protocol for Covid-19 mitigation

Posted | Contributed by Jeff

From the press release:

All parks will employ a sophisticated online reservation system to manage attendance, schedule guests for entry by day, and stagger arrival times to minimize proximity exposure. Other new technologies include:

  • State-of-the-art thermal imaging for temperature checks;
  • Advanced security screening technology for touchless bag checks; and
  • Expanded mobile food ordering.

The park reopening plan, which the company developed with its epidemiologist consultants, meets or exceeds federal, state, and local guidelines. It sets standards for executing at the highest levels of hygiene and social distancing protocols.

Maybe this is the year I finally fly from Orlando to Oklahoma City for the sole purpose of riding a Chance Rotor before there are none left.

I saw this official marketing release from Six Flags as well.

Six Flags Marketing - It's not gonna be the same

Does Six Flags publish any text of anything anymore? Why do they insist on doing EVERYTHING with videos that I do not have the time or inclination to watch?

And I am a video guy!

If only there were a link to the text in the news item! 😉

You got me there. I've seen multiple links to the video today but the news item here is the first one that actually linked to the text. Although it was ridiculously hard to read, with the light grey text on a white background, top of the page obscured by the cookie notice and the left third of the screen covered by a sharing widget and the text running all the way to the left edge. Who designs this crap anyway?

Hey, times are hard.
I don’t mind the Six Flags videos as much as I mind the bad acting that accompanies them.

The actors must have come from the entertainment department. :)

Has anyone with some sort of relationship with Six Flags (annual pass, membership, etc.) received anything directly from them? I've had a membership since last year - since it was within about $10 of a single visit and covered me for all of this year (oops) - and haven't received a single email, text, carrier pigeon, nada.

Just out of curiosity, does anyone know what the distance between rows is on the B&M coasters? Mentally, I've got to think it is close to 6 feet. I know that is not true of just about any other coaster car.

Yeah, you can tell it's a slow morning start...

We are gold members, which I guess doesn't exist anymore. I received two e-mails from the on March 30th but nothing since.
