After a night of fights and vandalism, Six Flags America said it will shorten park hours and close by 9 p.m. each day through the duration of Fright Fest, its annual Halloween event. On Saturday night, the park closed more than an hour ahead of schedule because multiple fights broke out on park grounds.

Cheap season passes and events that showcase violence and gore just ask for this to happen.

This is the path that Six Flags and Cedar Fair want to follow…..

Seven years later and I'd assume with Cedar Point Gold Passes the price point has narrowed quite a bit between the two vastly different parks. Seeing stuff like this (which is absolutely happening more in 2021 but hardly new) makes me even more puzzled when I think about how grossly underpriced Cedar Point is these days.

Nah. CP introduced the $99 Gold Pass, Six Flags America (along with Six Flags Darien Lake and I’m sure several others) said “Hold my beer!” And then put out a season pass renewal offer for $39.99!

But then again, what do I know?

The thought of any halfway decent sized park offering a season pass for less than a tank of gas is mind boggling. My family of four barely gets out of Chipotle for that much when we manage to all be in the same place at one time.

Andy makes a great case about messing with psyches, not even just the kids. Things are a twilight zone mix of weird being presented as normal or things being weird but normal expectations despite the weirdness. It is quite definitely messing with people. Those who were already not good at self control or just not "well behaved" people to start with are not getting better under the circumstances for sure. I know I've seen my own behavior change. I'm not starting fights at amusement parks but I'm definitely finding myself being less willing to people please than I may have been in the past. My husband is in EMS and in the city he works in the call volume keeps going up with more things that can best be described as "psychiatric emergencies" than usual and they seem to be set to have one of the most violent years as far as assaults and murders in the city.
