A flying dutchman coaster is one where you lie down.

What is life without geniuses?
Two things to say to SROS SFNE: 1) I didn't say that SFA was getting two major coasters this year, you did. Besides I don't want one of those B&M standups anyway 2) SFA may not be a "big" park yet, but the Dutchman will be our 5th coaster in 4 years following Roar (98), Joker's Jinx & Two-Face (99), and Superman Ride of Steel (00). Jealous? Just remember there are hundreds of acres left to build on in Largo. Just you wait.
To answer Jg's question: A Flying Dutchman is a prototype coaster built by Vekoma of the Netherlands that let's riders ride like a bird through loops and corkscrews. It's kind of hard to describe, so look up Stealth, Vekoma, or Paramount's Great America on the web.
Intamin, I concede to you. Your'e completely correct. The cheap corporate scammers at Premier aren't going to add anything. Greedy idiots. They don't get it! They wonder why places like Cedar Point always go ahead of them and it's because of things like these. SFNE has only been a Six Flags for one season and they won't add anything because they suspect that SROS will generate as much $$ as it did last season. Well, they are dead wrong. The people are all gonna head to Lake Compounce, because they actually add things! SFNE is going to fall behind Lake Compounce. And the folsk at premier will be pouting and they won't know why...well, my friends, it's because they refuse to spend the hundreds of millions of $$ they rake in every year. This is gonna suck. Nothing will come to SFNE this winter.
genius actually im not illiterate. SF is horrible, I hate to whine but I can't stand it. It was better when it was adventure world because they cared they built rides and themed them, not just building them so they can say they have them(i.e. superman, jokers jinx, two face, and probably this new one too) but i'll just stop beause SF is soo disappointing.
This should be a great addition to the park, assuming they can work out the capacity problems. Talk about oneupsmanship. PKD and Hershey anounce thier plans, Hypersonic(which will also rock if the capacity problems are worked out) for PKD and a laser light show for Hershey, and then SFA comes along with a 'flying coaster'. Who sees a 4-th dimension in the future for a park in this area to keep the game going?

Everybody calm down, the coasters do not open for another fifteen minutes.
Duke: Yeah, Adventure World had some great theming, look at the wonderful rock 'ROAR' sign...oh wait a minute, they didnt get that until after they became Six Flags. Well how about the the way they themed their falling star as (get this) FALLING STAR. No, no, no, one cant forget the GRRRRRREAAAT theming around the Mind Eraser coaster (please note the sarcasm). SFA is my home park and I love it, but face it, the themeing there BLOWS (well Typhoon SeaCoaster is nice)! There seems to no rhyme or reason to it. That is the parks weakest point. The 'Coyote Creek' area is okay, but why would "mind Eraser" be a good name for a coaster in that area. The name 'Roar' would have been a much better fit. Regardless, I'm happy. Now I only have to make a trip to SoCal. I can save money by not going to NoCal.
I dunno people, the themeing there actually didn't come acrossed as all that bad.
I like the main entrance a lot, and the western and pirate areas were great. Gothem needed work, but that is yet to come.
Duke, what is your #1 reason why you hate SF?
I actually think the themeing in Coyote Creek and Skull Island are very good 2hostyl. Besides, I'll take new rides over themeing anyday. Have you ever read the storyline behind the themes at some parks? Give me a break. Please watch your language in your post also as one of your words has a sexual connotation to it and we don't who is reading. I'm not a prude, and have been known to use this word myself, but let's keep it clean online.
If my five letter word, in the context it was presented elicits 'dirty' thoughts in your mind, then that is something you need to work out with yourself. I'm glad you all like the theming in those areas (which btw I pointed out were the good points) but overall, it is very lackluster to me, especially since I grew up with SFGAm as a home park, and I KNOW Six Flags can do better. And I have to disagree, I would be willing to wait for the flyer if I could get some trees in Gotham in return!

"It's Mega-Maid. She's gone from suck to blow!"; Colonel Sanders: Spaceballs
I was just reading all this about how bad the theming has been since Adventure World became a Six Flags park and someone said that they (the owners)cared about those things when it was Adventure World. Well, I don't know if you realize this, but this park is owned by the same people now as it was then, Premier Parks owned Adventure World and then they bought Six Flags.
But the theming isn't althogether bad in most places. Hopefully they will work on Gotham City a little more for this coaster.
I'm surprised that no one has commented on Attraction No. 38. The height listed may have been set at the legal limit just to cover whatever they might wind up wanting for the height, but just think of the possibility of 200 ft high dark coster. Whatever they are thinking about must be something really out of the ordinary since the foot print is only 60' by 70'. Maybe this thing will have some sort of vertical lift or launch system. Gives you something to think about on these cold coasterless winter nights.
Jim
Jim: The major rumor surrounding "attraction 38" is that it will be the old 'Python' Arrow Shuttle enclosed and somehow themed to "The BatCave". Or course, that's just speculation. However, it makes some sense seeing as though the Python coaster is still on site, albiet in pieces.

The slang word "blows" means that the object (Six Flags in your case) or a person is submitting to a certain unprintable sexual act. You can't argue otherwise. No extra thinking on my part is needed. Try to remember there may be young kids or others who don't appreciate this kind of language. I would've gotten your message just as strongly if you had used the word "stinks" instead. As for the themeing arguement, Apollo's Chariot had some of the lamest themeing I've ever seen at Busch Gardens. Guess what? It's still in my top 10. Peace.
Intamin Fan, actually I can argue otherwise. "Blows" and its other conjugations (blown, blowing etc.) has a completely different connotation amoung many residents in and around the DC area. However, I can see where you are coming from. But realize that "stinks", while fine for you, did not express my sentiments which is why I chose a different word. I have taken your comments under advisement but I lend no significant weight to them as you are not the webmaster nor a moderator of this board. As the risk of sounding like a smart aleck, I suggest that you either get over it or just be mad, for I am not going to limit my vernacular to your chosen lexicion because it *might* be seen as offensive. But thank you for your concern.
On the actual topic, while I feel that basic landscaping (trees, flowers, grass, etc.) is a must for any park, the themeing of the actual rides doesn't impress me much. The only reason I brought up SFA's theming because Duke suggested that the park was better themed when it was Adventure World. I dont think there is any difference (and why should it be, the same people are in control in upper management!)
cheers,
jeremy
Why the devil are arguing about that word, Intamin Fan. He posted it, he'sorry, let it go. You gotta control yourself, you are being very rude to him and you have been rude in the past towards me. you gotta chill out.
SROS221: I appreciate your support, but you are mistaken in one respect: I'm not sorry, and feel I have no reason to be. I-fan thinks the word should not be used, I disagree. Result, he wont use the word on the board, I will. It's just that simple. Dont make this into anything more than it is. I just see it as a difference of opinion. No biggie :)
To the best of my knowledge, I've only met 2Hostyl, and Wild One from this site. How have I been rude to you SROS221? I have to control myself? Why? By the way I'm not angry, I'm just having a discussion. There's a difference. I think one of the biggest problems facing SFA is not rides, themeing, or lack there of, but of young patrons who litter every sentence with foul-language. Just about every young adult/adult cusses, but most can control themselves when amongst the general public. Sadly this is not the case at SFA. It has scared off a lot of people, who are only too happy to go to other parks without said problem.

Sorry to 2Hostyl for posting 'sorry'. Intamin Fan, you were telling myself and my fellow SFNE patrons that we were all jealous that SFA would get a Stand-Up and a Dutchman. I thought that was very rude, disrespectful ,and immature. Who cares that 2Hostyl posted that. It's not a big deal. There aren't any 10 year old coaster enthusiasts in this discussion. No one has complained about this incident but you. He didn't mean it in that sense, it's just a phrase. And by the way, I'm 13 and I haven't dropped one piece of litter or cursed in any park, so please don't generalize!

O, boo hoo! Any self-respecting person would say, "Stop swearing so severly or I am going to get security over here." That would stop them, not coming to the park wouldn't stop those kids from cursing.
I wish some people would stop being immature and get back on the subject, and keep your arguments through EMAIL
