Six Flags Ameica: Public Transportation

I searched but didn't come up with anything that could help me, so if this has already been answered please point me in the right direction. OK, I'm in the Washingon DC for about another week and would like to know what the closest metro station is to SFA and if the park is within walking distance of that station.

Thanks

Thanks Brian, I'd already seen that. I guess I was really wondering how far away the park is from that metro station. Hopefully some of the locals can help me out.

IIRC, the metro station is on the wrong side of the beltway from the park. The bus is not optional. (I remember looking into this for my last trip until I realized that on a business trip, the rental car is Not Paid For By Me.)

Your best bet from the map looks to be Landover (home of the Redskins and Fedex Field), or New Carollton. I'm betting that are buses that you could take from there to the park, as there's a bus stop right in front of the entrance.

Yes, there is a bus stop right at the enterance to the park. I think that bus comes from one of the Blue Line metro stops, or it could be the Red Line, but don't quote me on that!

Edit: (I found it) Take Metrorail's Blue line to the Addison Road station, exit the station and take the C22 Metrobus towards Pointer Ridge to the stop at the entrance to Six Flags America.

It looks the only route that stops directly at SFA, is the C29 which leaves from the Addison Rd. station.

Don't think that that bus runs on weekends (at least not Sundays). I did that trip last year--> take the train to Addison Road and take a cab. Unfortunately I got a racist taxi driver who picked me up right in front of an older black man, I tried to refuse but the man just shook his head and walked away... and the whole way to the park the driver just keeps saying, "What a wonderful day, what a wonderful day". Was like something out of the past, I couldn't really believe it. But SFA was awesome.
The C22 runs Monday-Friday.

The C29 runs Saturday, but the last bus leaves the park @ around 7pm.

No bus runs on Sunday.

Walking is not an option, unless you dont mind walking about 10 miles.

Thanks for all the info; however it looks now like I'm not going to be able to make it. Saturday night and Sunday would have been my only two options and seeing as how I can't get there using public transit on those days it looks like I'll have to wait until next summer.
