Six Flags 2005 Attraction Announcements

Well, with all the 2005 SFI announcements so far, I just wanted to put into perspective that we still have quite a few more and at SF's current rate of press releases, I'd guess we'll see all the rest of the announcements by midway through February (in two weeks or less).

Confirmed announcements:

Sept 17: SFGAm: Hurricane Harbor (Waterpark)
Sept 29: SFGAdv: Kingda Ka (Strata Coaster)
Jan 10: SFFT: Xcelleration (High-energy and visually stunnning show)
Jan 26: SFStL: Tornado (ProSlide Tornado
Jan 28: SplashTown: Tornado (ProSlide Tornado)
Jan 31: SFMW: Ocean Discovery (Caribbean-themed ocean experience)
Feb 3: SFDL: Tornado (ProSlide Tornado)
Feb 3: SFOG: Skull Island (Interactive Water Play Structure)

Parks where an announcement is yet to come based on announcements by Six Flags or by other sources:

SFA: Some sort of addition to the waterpark (probably including a ProSlide tornado based on the current trend)
SFEG: Unknown (possibly a White Water West Sidewinder slide)
Feb 15: SFKK: Unknown (probably a ProSlide Tornado)
SFNE: Spinning Coaster, Slingshot & Typhoon
SFOT: "New Shows coming in 2005!" (as stated on the website)
LaRonda: Kids Area

So that's eight Six Flags Parks that have made OFFICIAL announcements and six more that are all but confirmed at the moment. How many parks did SF say were getting new attractions in 2005? I can't seem to find that thread where we discused that. Just trying to see if there may still be a park or two unaccounted for.

If you can't stand the heights, get out of the line.

The only SF park you missed that will receive new attractions this year is TGE.

What about SFNO, Wild Waves/Enchanted Village, Frontier City, Wyandotte Lake?
According to Screamscape which may or may not be credible Frontier city will not recieve any new additions this year...Take it for what its worth..

As for SFNO only thing we have heard from the park is a beefed up show program and still the same as last year concert series for the summer..No word on the up charge Go-Kart track addition or anything resembling a hint of start up possibilties for a future waterpark..Only announcement as of yet is cutting of park hours with a increase in park admission price..What a deal!!! Go figure!!

Only a one coaster year....who would have envisioned this a few years ago? I'm not saying it's a bad thing! THeir $$ is better spent on other things right now than coasters.

I was thinking the same thing Peabody... only one new coaster installation? This is unprecidented.
They have only announced one coaster, but SFNE is adding a spinning coaster and TGE is adding a kiddie coaster.
SFEG is getting the Sidewinder Slide, there is a map link on Screamscape that shows the new slide near the lazy river and the family raft ride. This is kind of strange, as there is one of these at Water World north of Denver. It seems the Proslide Tornado would have been the better choice. Anyway this is the first new addition for the waterpark since it was built, not to say that we haven't gotten a good share of rides in the park at that time.

As I said, no new attractions for those parks in 2005.

Back in the November conference call it was noted that 13 out of 18 Six Flags domestic theme parks getting new rides/attractions in 2005. The 18 domestic parks are the 15 Six Flags branded theme parks in the U.S. plus Frontier City, The Great Escape and Enchanted Village.

Specific mention of these parks was made in the conference call:

Announced so far

SFGAm. - Hurrican Harbor
SFGAdv. - Kingda Ka and more
SFMW - Ocean Discovery
SFSL - Tornado
SFOG - Skull Island

Not announced yet

SFA - likely Hurricane Harbor
SFNE - spinning coaster, slingshot, waterslide
SFKK - Tornado (announcement Feb. 15)
SFEG - halfpipe waterslide
The Great Escape - new kiddie area (Jungleland)
Enchanted Village - ?

Also they said SFOT, SFMM and SFFT will be getting new shows.

Six Flags Darien Lake is getting a Tornado.
Six Flags SplashTown is getting a Tornado.

The two international parks (do not count in the 15 domestic parks)

Six Flags Mexico got Superman hypercoaster (late 2004) and La Ronde is getting a new kiddie area (10 rides) to be announced Feburary 23.

White Water Bay (OKC) is getting the new Tornado.

Not Frontier City.

What about SFAW? (Insert Cricket chirping here)

Splashtown is not close to SFAW, they are about 45 minutes away from each other. But as I live about 10 minutes away from Splashtown, I am pretty happy.

I'll bet they'll announce SFKK,SFNE's & SFEG's additions first & then announce SFA's plans shortly afterward seeing as how their additions probably will include more than just the tornado slide, although I still believe(based on their history of past announcements) that it may come as early as the 15th.

As is I'm still supprised that they havn't announced yet, then again they probably want to be sure that Safeway stores are able to handle season pass discount sales first.

As the company creeps closer to bankruptcy...

A good example is SFMM. No one I know goes there anymore. For the first time in over a decade I didn't get a season pass last year. The few of my freinds that did, are not this year. And once again neither will I. I thought I would miss some of the rides there, but I really don't. Perhaps I will get a pass again in 2006...if they're still open!!

I got a pass at SFMM but only so I could use it at SFOG. If I return to the park at all this year it will be to renew my pass for next year, when I will again use it at other parks outside of Los Angeles.

Where 'bouts is Splashtown, up in the Woodlands area?

Spashtown is in Spring Texas, a suburb north Of Houston. It is about 5 miles north of Bush Airport and just south of the Woodlands on I-45.
I just received an email from SFNE for my season pass renewel and it said they will officially announce the new rides on Feb. 24th. The waterslide is already approved, and there waiting approval on the slingshot for height restriction, and approval from the conservation committee on the construction site for the spinning coaster.
^I'm still waiting for SFA's season pass renewal email to come in,hopefully within the next couple of weeks.

Now maybe they might not even send it this year seeing as how I renewed my pass back in october but then again I've allready gotten at least two season pass renewal emails from the park within the past few months.
