Sis Flags Great Adventure: I really need to get in shape!

Associated parks:
None

Yesterday, September 24, 2005, I planned a little outing to visit my local home park. This whole summer I've wanted to go there just for the new Golden Kingdon area and Kingda Ka but have been extremely busy with work, school, and anything else that was important. Being that I'm a manager at a Mcdonald's Restaurant in NYC, I was able to get free tickets to Six Flags Great Adventure. Six Flags and Mcdonald's always have something going on so this is a normal thing for us to get free tickets. With the 2005 operating season almost over, I needed to get out to Gadv and have me some fun!

I arrived to the park, by NJ Transit, at about 10:45am. I quickly got out of the bus, walked fast to the entrance of the park, got my ticket scanned as well as myself, and walked towards the boardwalk section. There was a huge crowd of people waiting and in front of them was a rope. With all the coaster shows I've seen, I already knew what was going to happen. Some woman who was with her son, screamed out to him "You need to move out the way because your going to get trampled!" The time was 10:58am was one of the guard dropped a side of the rope and the term "running of the bulls" took place. I didn't want wait a long time in line so my instant was to run as fast as I can to Kingda Ka. Damn, was that a bad but good idea! When I actually saw running of the bulls take place at Cedar Point for MF I didn't think it was true, but for me to take part in it for Kingda Ka was chaos. That had to be the first time I'd ran that fast in a while. I really need to get back in shape!

Once arrive to the line, with only 100 people in front of me, (I think I did a pretty good job), I saw the train launch for the first time, in front of me with people in it and my eyes lit up. That same look I had on my face at 16 two years ago when I saw TTD for the first came right back. I already knew what to expect from Kingda Ka havent already conquered it's successor, TTD. I rode the 2nd to front seat on TTD it became one of my favorite's, but #1. Something was missing. Kingda Ka changed my top 5 favorite coaster as soon as I was in the launch area. I rode in the front seat of this beast and got the ulitmate thrill ride experience I could ever ask for! The speed, height, themeing of the area, guest reactions as they enter and leave the coaster, etc. is what made Kingda Ka, for me, triumpt over TTD and the other coasters I've ridden in my book.

After riding Kingda Ka, I purchased the combo pictures which was a keychain and frame for about $21.00. Once I left Kingda Ka's area, I walked around The Golden Kingdom and notice the themeing that Six Flags did. It's actaully quite good. Through out the day, I ended up riding Medusa, Nitro, Robin: The Chiller, The Twister, Space shuttle, seeing the Temple of the Tiger Show, and ending the night by waiting for almost 2 hour to ride Kingda Ka again in the front. I want to explain out everything, but I'm tired and rushing to put this out. Thanks for reading. *** Edited 9/25/2005 5:29:06 AM UTC by Starintraining***

LOL! I enjoyed reading your TR!

Ah yes, I remember the good ole' days at Cedar Point where the "running of the bulls" meant getting to Mforce as fast as you could, without killing each other. lol.

I can't really "run" (unless I am forced to) so I never took part in any rushes to any coaster. This past June I was at Great Adventure and missed THAT "running of the bulls" since my friend and I got there about 20 minutes after opening.

I thought Ka ROCKED, but personally I still prefer Dragster. The initial "launch" was more powerful, but that's just what I experienced. I need to ride Ka a few more times to get more of a feel to it, but it won't be until next year. ;-)

Good write up. I didn't participate in the running of the bulls at SFGA, but I did for CP for MF. It's crazy. When ever I do these things, I'm always first in line, cause I'm pretty fast compared to the average park goer. Plus, I get joy out of being the first on a ride for the day. Front seat is the only seat in my book. Glad you had a good experience.
In SoCal, we don't ever get a "running of the bulls" at our parks, except for Magic Mountain - and that ride is X. I usually never participate, 'cause my friends usually can't or won't keep up with me and I dislike leaving them behind, but it is mad. You see people of all sizes and ages running like demons were after them and you come to think "wow, I really underestimated that pregnant woman." Well, maybe not that, but you get the idea.

I went to Cedar Point twice in 2002 and I wasn't able to witness any running of the bulls, but from what I've read countless of times, I hear it's ridiculous ;)

Man, running of the bulls to "X" would be the most tiresome of all the parks. All uphill.

My favorite MJ tune: "Billie Jean" which I have been listening to alot now. RIP MJ.

We ran to X one day (well, as best as we could, LOL)...then ran into the "we're testing" employee out front. An hour later the first train dispatched... ;)

Be nice to get back to Gadv this yeart and maybe GET that ride on Ka...not that watching it test all day last time wasn't fun and all...LOL!

Nice report... :)
