Single Rider Lines

I would never use them, anyway, because I like to be able to pick the seat I want.

I see your point, but on some rides, you don't even get to choose the seat you want (California Screamin').

The single rider line is a great tip for anyone looking for an extra ride or two without waiting.

I think one big reason why many parks don't have single rider lines is cost. Not the coast to build them, but the cost of having a few crew members to staff the line. Sucks, but that's how it is I suppose.

Is that a Q-bot in your pocket or are you just happy to see me?

Exactly....the *cost* is that of a staff person per ride....the *benefit*, however, has yet to be PROVEN....
I don't think single rider lines are that great. Last time I was at Epcot, the single rider line had a longer wait than the regular line.
I love single rider lines as well. The first time I used them were at IoA and I got 4 rides in about 15mins on a 30min line wait. Also jumped ahead of a 20min wait and got a ride on Dr. Doom in just a few mins.

When I was at BGW this past sunday, there was a little queue for single riders on Apollo. Unfortunately, every time I ride this that line is closed, although I wish it was closer to the front of the line. A single rider queue on Alpengeist would be great too.

IMO, single rider lines would work best on B&M's or anything with 4 seats across or more. These are the ones that usually tend to send groups of 2 and 3 and it leaves a ton of empty seats in the trains unlike the 2 seaters that usually only send a couple empty seats.

I think you could use existing staff to man the single rider line...

Yes, after visiting IOA last year, I became a huge fan of single rider lines. And on a coaster I would rather ride with somebody I dont know what ride by myself...in almost all cases...especially if its a girl ;)

Track Record: 62 coasters at 17 parks.

when i was at PCar in may, they were using the single rider line for Vortex. Me and my friend were the only 2 in that line(and the regular line was still farily empty), and as soon as we got to the top of the stairs, the guy put me and him both in the front to fill it up. great idea, hope there gets to be more!

I'm glad this topic was brought up because I have a question. If you are going to use the single riders line, do you get to bypass the whole regular queue that is before it? (As in walk right past everybody in the regular line.) I have never used it before, but I noticed on Apollo's Chariot that some people were pushing their way through the regular queue to make their way to the entrance of the single riders line. I thought they had to wait in line until they got there. Of course, they were riding over and over many times doing this. (Which is good for them.) Just wondering. Looks like they would put the entrance to the single riders line somewhere else so these people would not be constantly moving past the other guests waiting in the regular line.

In an instance such as Apollo's Chariot, where the single rider queue is just before the station, I think the polite thing to do is wait until you get there with everyone else.

Where the single rider queue is a separate entrance, of course, you pass most everyone.

Thats what I was thinking, Chernabog. It just didn't seem right with the people constantly pushing past us to get to the SRL entrance on Apollo's Chariot.

Most people in the quee line will let a single rider cut in front of them if they see a single empty seat on the coaster. Dedicating single lines for single riders would mean the rider will not have have a choice of where to sit.

That is fine by me, if you want a choice seat, then you wiat, no big deal. Me, I usually fly solo, and most times I only care about riding it, so a single rider line is great for me. Just wish more parks would listen to this.

I also agree, it is cool to meet new and interesting people on coasters. It is fun to ride next to people that have never ridden before or are scared of the ride. I have fun giving them a pep talk and getting them to get those hands up in the air.
