Silver Star

Is it just me, or did B&M design a whole new style of track for this ride?  It seems wider and more rectangular. Go here. http://www.europapark.de/deut/sites/sonstiges/baustellen/silverstar/pix1511.html

Nup, it's not just you. As far as I know, it's the first time B&M has done this. It looks to me that they've used the same spine from their Dive Machines, & turned it over a quarter turn. This makes it their strongest regular gauge track yet.

I originally thought this track would be used to bridge over the carpark due to regular supports being used instead of vertical & horizontal Alpengeist style lift supports as shown in the original rendering. Now it's being used on the drop as massive loads are encountered here & very few supports are used.

The track is deeper than usual, like Nitro's.

I was just about to say, someone pointed out to me that Nitro actually has three different widths/depths of track spine. Give the photos a look and see if you can find them.

I don't understand what is so mysterious about it.  That is a box-girder, and the track is supported by it.  It is deeper (more rectangular) to take the additional load between the supports from a higher than average coaster.  The box could have kept the same dimensions as other coasters but more supports close to each other would have been needed.  I'm almost positive because of the size of this coaster, it was done for economic, not aesthetic, reasons.  It does look better though.
If you look at other B&M coasters, like inverts and floorless models, you will see that the size of the box beam changes near the various inversions.
But it's like this throughout the coaster, I don't think I've ever seen it like that before.
