Silver Dollar City ramps up holiday decoration efforts

Posted | Contributed by Jeff

Christmas may be more than two months away, but Silver Dollar City is already gearing up for its big, holiday celebration. The ribbons, bows, lights and garland are all going up this week. The theme of this year's holiday festival at Silver Dollar City is "an Old Time Christmas" and it features the return of the holiday light parade. It opens November second and runs through December 22nd.

I highly suggest going to this event. Nothing like riding a beemer in November in the Midwest.

I agree... I would have to say that I enjoyed SDC's Christmas event more than any other Christmas event I have attended.. Don't forget to catch "Tinker" the 17 foot talking tree..... he is hillarious!!!!

Riding Wildfire in 40 degree cold rain was sure something to remember.. I'm sure my body will never forget it

I will be attending the first Saturday in December again this year, if anyone else is going, let me know when and maybe we can hook up.

40? That's nothing. We get to ride Millennium Force in those temperatures every fall!

Yeah, MF is fast and furious at night, but riding off the side of a mountain in pitch black dark with temps hovering around 40degrees in pounding rain takes a toll on the body, thats for sure.

Wildfire and Thunderation can operate as long as the temps are above 38 degrees. I also rode Titan late last December in 40 degree weather also.. what an adrenaline rush!

They begin gearing up by starting to put up the Christmas lights in Aug and it goes into Oct. When I was at SDC in Aug they have some lights up already.

BTW. SDC becomes my home park after OCT, when WOF is closed.
