Silver Comet--Is it really like the original?

Has anyone out there ridden the Silver Comet at Martin's Fantasy Island and the original Comet? If so, can you tell me if and how much the Silver Comet is like the original? I've ridden the Silver Comet, but only seen the original Comet from the beach (I was pre-coaster age when Crystal Beach closed).
I rode both Comets last year (the CB Comet has been relocted to the Great Escape in upstate New York). I think Fantasy Island fashioned the Silver Comet as a "tribute" to the original Comet, not as a copy, because they really are not very similar. The GE Comet is much larger, with about 50% more track, although the first hills are the same height. The GE Comet is also significantly more intense, with great airtime and relentless speed; the Silver Comet, while fun, cannot match the original for thrills, IMHO.

Actually the original Comet is the Hersheypark Comet (1946)The GE Comet was redesigned in (1948)In between the Comets was the Playland Rocket(1948)All three designed by Herbert Schmeck. Oh the Rocket is now the Phoenix at Knoebels. Just some more useless coaster trivia.

Herb Schmeck is the man! The Comet at Hersheypark has got to be one of the most underrated coasters around - one of my faves, I like it even more than the GE Comet. And, in my opinion, the Phoenix is the best wooden coaster I've ever had the pleasure of riding ...

I actually prefer the GE Comet. HP's is ruined by the trip on the top of the second tunraround. It just kills all the possible air. Between the GE Comet and Phoenix is a tough one. I think the Phoenix has tons more air and left and right turns. The Comet has faster turns and a little less air. The Comet only has left hand turns too.
