Shouka now on display at Six Flags Marine World

Posted | Contributed by GoliathKills

Shouka, the 11-year old Orca from the former Six Flags Worlds of Adventure, is finally on display at Six Flags Marine World. She arrived last week along with 400 other critters. Marine World has not been home to Orcas since 2000 when the last of their killer whales died. Photos have been posted to SFMW Zone.

I wonder if all this stress is going to have an adverse effect on the poor whale.

This is her 3rd home in 4 years.

Heck, she's probably used to it.

She is probably enjoying the larger pool that she is in.*** This post was edited by Chitown 4/26/2004 1:11:14 PM ***

Glad to see that she made it. Hope she enjoys her new home and the people treat her right. For the time she was at SFWoA, she put on some good shows.
Welcome to your new home Shouka. We miss you here at the 'Lake but you are in better care now.
She has the same trainers guys. Same care, different pool.
Well that's good to hear that the trainers at SFWoA got to transfer out to Cali.

For all you people in Ohio that hated SFWoA's operations, you have to be somewhat sad to see Shouka leave. Not many areas in the country have the priviledge of seeing these beautiful creatures up close and personal.

Two of the trainers are from Ohio. They also mentioned they have been working out a deal for two years to breed Shouka with the 11 year old male Kshamenk from the Acuario Mundo Marino park in Argentina. You guys wouldn't believe how happy I am o have the true spirit of the park back.
Does anyone know which trainers went to CA? I bet Drew was one of them, and he and a few others have been here ever since Sea World's days!
For every end, there's a beginning. If it's any consolation to you guys, just know that we are totally excited and so happy to have "the beautiful one" here at SFMW. Ever since Yaka and Vigga's passing in 2K, there's been a huge void at SFMW, both literally and figuratively. Even with all the great new rides SF has added, without a whale show for the first time in the parks history, the park as a whole just hasn't felt complete ever since.

This season will no doubt be one of SFMW's biggest, even without a new ride. The buzz already brewing for Shouka is amazing, most park fans agree this is a much better and bigger addition than any coaster SF could have ever come up with.

We started out this season here with only waterslides to look forward to as the big new addition for NorCal. Shouka and Co. will easily hands down be the S.H.O.T.S. here in NorCal. She and all the other critters will definitely be much loved and appreciated here in their new home.
