No injuries were reported after gunshots were fired in the parking lot of Six Flags Great America in Gurnee on Monday night, police said.

This was the first thread that came up for Great America, so why not. Someone on FB recently posted:
Batman at Six Flags Great America had all of its ride features refurbished. It is now running as good as when it first opened in the 90s. The original soundtrack (Seal, Prince, etc) plays loudly throughout with kids playing sounds in the park. All fog has been restored, the wooshing sounds of the fan in the tunnel, water shooting from the fire hydrant. Alfred's original spiel is back when the train exits. It is WONDERFUL seeing ride features being restored.
While we wallow in negativity about certain aspects of the SF/CF merger, this seems very positive. If anything, Cedar Fair (at least at Cedar Point) has been notorious for simply letting any bit of theming that needs any type of maintaining/care just fall to the wayside (when was the last time you saw the water bombs on Maverick?). They have certainly done a better job the past 3-4 years (see Magnum's 3rd tunnel).
Siren's Curse has little touches of theming that no one really expected. These are the little things that make a huge difference to the experience. I'll add a few of the pics included with this post.

Six Flags corporate office should take note, it’s not about spending hundreds of millions of dollars on new rides but a couple million taking care of what you already have and maybe re-inventing the experience with current audio/video/lighting technology.
On a side note, was speaking with several people who have visited parks this summer. The one thing I heard over and over: the long lines in the sun/heat/humidity takes a toll. Mind you, these people are over 30 but they are folks with $$$$ to spend as they move up in their careers. We’ve seen a shift of park attendance move from summer to fall, summer heat is a big reason why. Companies need to react to this, either with indoor attractions, indoor queues with AC, or outdoor queues with better ventilation and access to water.
