In another post, Soggy said that at Magic Mountain, days when they are open 10-6, the park is dead, providing much shorter lines. Is this true for other parks? (especially SFGAm, since I'm planning what days to go.)

Sort of, but not really. If a park is normally open from 10 to Midnight, then you would benefit on a 10-6 day. On the other hand, if it's a 10-6 park all of the time, then it would be a tough call on when the best time to go would be.

Taller please!
In the case of SFGAm yes typically that is true....unless they bus a bunch of groups in to the park.

What is life without it's ups and downs
Buses can cause parks attendance to soar. I would have to say that it DEPENDS. I've been to parks on 10 - 10 operation with a dead park. Greatest thing ever.

Just get at the park EARLY. At PKI, the rides were walk ons for the first hour of the day, then got packed!

Coasters- a little slice of heaven
Remember too that the usual reason that parks have short days is because they expect the crowds to be light, so they can't justify the expense of being open longer.
