Shooting Gallery flash trick- building database

I'm sure there are a lot of folks out there who know the camera flash
trick. Walk up to a shooting gallery and flash your flash to activate
every target at once. If you've never tried it, try it... it's lots of
fun.

This trick works with some shooting galleries, but does not work at
all. I am currently building a database of all the shooting galleries
that I can find that this trick either works on or does not work on.
I'm starting small, but here is the database so far (which is partially found in another thread discussing games, also- it has grown since then):

Cedar Point:
*The shooting gallery near the entrance works well
*The shooting gallery in Frontiertown does not work

Kennywood:
*Does not work

Knott's Berry Farm
*The shooting gallery near the log flume works very well!

Pacific Park:
*The tiny shooting gallery in the big arcade works

Scandia Park, Ontario, California:
*Works

Six Flags Magic Mountain:
*The shooting gallery near Deja Vu and Psyclone does not work

SFDL:
* The gallery near Viper does not work

Adventuredome, Circus Circus hotel:
* The gallery near the water ride works

Canfield Fair, Canfield, Ohio:
* The gallery on the games midway in 2002 worked

I am asking for your help to expand this database. If you know of any
shooting galleries in any park near you, or even far away that you
either know the trick works on, or does not work on, please drop me an
e-mail, or post here and give me the following information for
each gallery:

* State
* Park
* Location of shooting gallery in the park
* Does it work?
* What name you would like credited (your name) in my database
* Any notes you have about the location or the park
* If you have a photo of the gallery, that would rock also!

My hope is that one day I will be able to post this database somewhere
so that every park enthusiast everywhere will know ahead of time about
the status of any particular gallery, before making a fool out of
themselves!

I snap flyers.

The one at Williams Grove in Mechanicsburg. PA does this as well.

I tried the one at Knoebels but didn't have any luck.

I do it at CP all the time... The front one is optical, thus it works no problem. The back one is Infared, thus will not work. A remote control might, but not a flash.

While on the topic of shooting galleries, do some use lasers to set off the targets? If so, would a laser pointer work? PS- Am I pretty much asking the same thing as 1EyedJack? I'm not sure if a remote control and a laser pointer are the same or not. Thanks! :)

There's a shooting gallery in the arcade at the top of the Stratosphere (where you exit from riding Big Shot & High Roller) called Dirty Pat's Saloon.

It works there as of this past January.

Coasterpunk- Where in the parks are those two galleries located?

I snap flyers.

It works at the shooting galleries at Europapark (GER) and Prater Park (AUT).
Many of the Dave & Buster's also have shooting galleries that use the strobe system (some have the more modern laser systems) - but I don't know if you want to include them in the database.

The ones I can confirm are the dowtown Chicago location and the Columbus, OH location that work. Ones I know do not work are Cleveland, Islandia NY, & Cincinnati. I'd have to research the rest (it's been a while since I worked there ;))

These are all indoors in the "Midway" part of the building and are smaller than the park models (usually 8-9 stations).

I regret to inform you that Top Thrill Signature
is not currently in operation due to mechanical problems.

Yeah, it would be like rcdb.com, except it would be called:

sgftdb.com

Pretty specialized information, no? I'm trying to figure out under what circumstances one would need to use it.....

LOL

The one at Knoebels that doesn't work is called Moonshine Mountain and is locater across from the Whirlwind.

The one at Williams Grove is located near the gift shop close to the Tilt a Whirl.

Worlds of Fun has an optic Shooting gallery so a camera flash does set them off. I even tried it across the midway from the gallery and still got them to go off. It is preatty funny when you can do it across the midway.

And I'll never, ever, ever, ever, ever make a song about the Sibbie.

LOL! I might have to try that at Cedar Point. Too bad it dosent work at Kennywood...

Kennywood Park, America's finest traditional amusement park.
Track Record: 60 coasters at 17 parks.

I have done it, and it is a lot of fun, but it does seem a little suspicious when you come up and say, "Oh a shooting gallery! I must have a picture of it!" I had two of my friends stand in front of it to make it look less obivious.

There is nothing like the noise of an entire gallery going off at one time. I had my wife and brother in law stand in front of the one at the Adventuredome in LV, it was like a small bomb went off.
