Shivering Timbers

Yeah but Detroit is like 6 hours away. I've figuredout if I'm gonna ever go (currently looking at Timbers Fest) I will just fly to Chi or Milwaukee (two cities where I have family) and just drive from there. I would be nice though if there was a ferry straight arcoss the lake from Milwaukee though ;)

You mean that ferry isn't running anymore to Ludington?

Personally, I'd love to ride it. ;)

Well, seeing that ST is obviously located in the middle of nowhere, i wouldnt say that Colossos will suffer from low ridership. Heide Park is very close (45 mins)from Hamburg and 90 mins from Berlin, furthermore its not too far from the whole Rhine area where 8 million people live, the benelux countries are all just a two hour drive away. Furthermore the park will try its best to promote the coaster. All big newspapers are reporting about the "worlds biggest wooden coaster" (we know its not true, but the GP doesnt), and the internet webcam and construction pix are recieved very well.
Personally i think its only fair, that for once you have to deal with a finger lickinĀ“coaster that is on a another continent. I travelled far too many sideroads in the US to find my dream destinations;)

Timbers is just AMAZING
The first time that I rode Shivering Timbers it honestly took my breath away. I couldn't believe how long it took to get to the first turn around and how many drops were on the ride as a whole. It is an awsome ride and I'm proud to say that it is in my home state of Michigan (even if it is a four and a half hour drive away from me.)
I certainly don't think Colossos will suffer from low ridership. My point is that not as many people from our corner of the world will ride it, so, naturally, we won't talk about it as much.

It might get just as much press as Shivering Timbers, but we probably won't hear about it as much.

Also, you know, while Shivering Timbers is sort of in the "middle of nowhere," but it is in the States, which means a lot of us Yanks can get to it for a reasonable price.

APForce - They're still running the Badger from Ludington. I think they do a dinner trip. That might be kinda cool.

Punk - They've got six coasters - an Arrow corkscrew (yuck), an Arrow Wild Mouse (OK), a kiddie steel (for the count only), a junior woodie called Zack's Zoomer (really pretty good), a full-grown woodie called Wolverine Wildcat (not terrible, but not great either) and ST. And the water park is quite good. Oh yeah, maybe a half dozen flat rides. You can kill a day there, no problem.
To be honest, I thought it looked and felt like an overgrown carnival. I'm not putting down the park, since I had quite a good time there, but they do need a lot more trees, scenery, etc.

I think I'm the only person in the world who really likes Wolverine Wildcat. I've heard it's modeled after Knoebel's Phoenix, but I'm not exactly sure.

I liked the Wolverine Wildcat, but is is SO outclassed by ST, it's almost laughable. Also, the day I was there WW ran only one train (is this the usual?) and I had to wait about 20-25 minutes, while ST was usually 5 minutes or less (running 2 trains), the decision was obvious.

Personally, I enjoyed Zach's Zoomer a bit better than WW, go figure.

My #1 Wood. Simply the best. Blew me away, wherever you sit. I personally like the back. Go ride it now.
