Shapiro is shopping low cost and family coasters. Next,,,,,,

150 grand for a ride that will last decades (NEW FLYING SCOOTERS) keep people happy for years and provide more to do at the coaster only parks.

The return on investment is ten fold over time vs a 25 million dollar coaster.

Funny I've been to Hershey thrice and all three times lines seemed completely managable to me. Maybe I've just been lucky.
We ususally hit parks far away in multiples, Planning the small parks for weekends and the majors durring the early week. We had nary a line at Hershey on a monday :)

SFGAdv opinions:

1) Chaos --Good but malfunctions so they took them out.
2) Jump--Junk doesn't work
3) Evolution (relocated to SFSTL as Excalibur)--Didn't work there.
4) Frisbee (relocated to SFGAM as Revolution)--Probably didn't work there.
5) Polyp--It was barely operational is what i heard.
6) Double Inverter--Pain in legs
7) Breakdance --I think these rides are boring.
8) Taz's Twister (Rotor)--They took SFGAm's out so maybe they said to take this out to.
9) a Wipeout-style ride--Took all of them out I believe probably due to stupid injury at SFDK dealing with a little kid who probably slid underneath the bar.
10) Slingshot replaced by ErUption
11) Zamperla Turbo Force (four-seater Skyscraper-like ride)
12) Condor (relocated to SFGAM) as part of the earlier Time Warner
The Top Spin, and the Houdini remain.

That was a pretty bad selection of rides except the Wipeout. Too bad, the Chaos died too. I really like that ride.

And here's my comments based on what Spinout listed:
1) agreed. This was my first Chaos, as SFA didn't get there's until the following year with the addition of S:ROS
2) agreed, but rode it twice and it was amazing. It was a portable attraction, so I was hoping some show-company would pick it up, but it may have been too heavy for our crappy American roads. My question is "Why do they work in Europe?"
3) agreed, but I heard when it did work, the program was too long and made people puke according to my friend
4) The Frisbee worked just fine. That was a case of the GM taking a ride with him when he was transferred to SFGAM. Some people said it was a case of low ridership since it was located behind the bumper cars, but I find that hard to believe since it was on your right side before you entered the admission gates, and it was right across the way from Chiller. I always rode it with a full load of people
5) Zamperla distributed (but made by Satori) Polyp-No clue
6) Single Inverters can be found at many fairs. It was never that exciting of a ride, but it did have a nice location by the lakefront.
7) Breakdance-Sorry you find them boring, but I don't. There aren't that many rides that go that fast in American themeparks. They totally missed a theming opportunity too when they removed the Rodeo to put in El Toro. What an idiotic move (and SFOT's gain). Instead we get a Rockin' Tug? Why do the little kids get all the flats?:)
8) The Rotor was in the way of the retheme to The Golden Kingdom
9) A real Trabant (notice not a Chance Casino wheel/Wipeout) actually disappeared before the Rotor which it was next to
10) agreed extra-pay attraction
11) agreed extra-pay attraction, but at $8 on a special I couldn't complain. I thought it was every bit as good as the Skyscrapers and I rode one at a fair to confirm
12) Condor-that disappeared years ago, so I wouldn't even put it in the count

You forgot:

13) The Zamperla Pirate's Flight which is at Geagua Lake, or should I say was at GL?
14) Scrambler that used be in front of the entrance for S:UF
15) Schwarzkopf Enterprise-Taken out last year and never replaced

100% in agreement with the thought of bringing Sally interactive shooters into the parks. Also, It would even be great to see them use Sally to turn previous dud rides into dark rides. There was the case of Ice Age in a German park (forgot the name) where they took a log flume and gave it a character makeover (not sure it was Sally or not.) Huge hit with the GP. It's a way to build a "new" ride around a previous installation.

Hopefully the Dark Knight coaster clones prove to be hits, so they make dark rides more of a priority for the chain.

If you don't want to wait in long lines at HP, go on any day that doesn't have "Satur-" in it. ;) Actually, if you can swing a Sunday late afternoon or evening there, you'll find most lines very reasonable.
I've only been to Hershey a couple times, but not on Saturdays. Even last summer, the longest wait seems to be the Comet, with two trains even! It's a popular ride (and rightfully so!).

Sooperdooperlooper had empty trains, cept for me and a friend. But, they wouldn't let us just stay in. And that's not exactly a short walk around. Something very annoying, that Six Flags seems to handle pretty well, as well as Indiana Beach, much to my happiness!

Six Flags works that policy pretty well. Even with painfully slow crews, getting 25 rides without leaving the station on GEMS like the Mindbender and Greezed Lightnin is worth my uh... well, it's worth a lot to me! *** Edited 9/29/2007 3:24:24 AM UTC by J7G3***

Then Hershey and Gonch just must not mix. :)

Last time we stopped by was a Sunday night / Monday combo and it was packed.

Before that it was a Wednesday and we ended up leaving by mid-afternoon because of ridiculous crowds.

The time before that? A Saturday stop for the X-mas thing they do. It was by far the best overall visit we've had to the park and the least crowded.

I suppose with Farenheit, we'll be forced to give it another go in 2008. Maybe a Tuesday or Thursday this time? :)

I never go to HP when there is a concert or some other event at the nearby venues. That almost guarantees long lines.

I wish SFGAdv could figure out how to staff their rides. That would be "convenient". Even without the extra "Superpark 2000" rides, they have trouble running the park at capacity, which artificially creates much longer waits which is great for busi-...wait, what were we talking about again??? lol

I love Dark rides. I love the traditional dark rides because they are rare and special, and I love Sally Shooters because they are innovative and interesting...Don't forget about the Sim Dark Rides Spiderman and Darkcastle.

I like all of them for different reasons, and I really wish that Dark Rides of any kind would become a staple at the typical amusement/theme park...Like before.

I absolutely agree! Every park should have several of them. Whenever I'm at a park that has one, I'm on it for hours.

Again, I think dark rides at more parks would be a great idea as long as they aren't like Six Flags Over Texas. That was just boring, and stupid. If you are going to do a dark ride without lasers, do it like Disney. This is, base it on a movie like Batman, or some other flick. Without lasers, it doesn't matter. You can have a Tom & Jerry laser ride for goodness sakes. I really do like SFStL's though.

Right, so SFOT should remove or redo one of the only rides in the park with an original theme about Texas, in the Texas area of the park, and put in a ride based on a movie. And even though you don't like it, it is a very popular ride with families, as the kids love to see Bugs Bunny "talking to them in person"

Thanks for sharing that with me. I went on the one at SFOT, and I though it stunk. I like Wipeouts a whole lot more. You get so much airtime on that ride. It's just so much fun.

SF does the worst things with Chance rides. They take out of there Wipeouts which are awesome. Again, this is due to one accident. They should just put seatbelts on that ride like the carnivals. The problem with some of these rides is the fact that kids are kids. They want to get off the ride, and they find a way to do so. It's not that they aren't properly restrained. They try hard to get out of these rides, and they suceed.

It's the teacups at someplace in which some kid was standing up, and got hit by the teacup piece, and it's SFA's Octopus in which a kid got ejected from it. Are they going to start taking all of those rides out to because some kid got out of it? Than, we also have these people that purposely try to not have there harness down enough so they can practically stand up on a ride like a wooden coaster. Wasn't it at Cypress Gardens that someone fell out of that one?

I was at a park, and was on a roller coaster. A kid stuck his entire head out of the restraint of that roller coaster. Thankfully, it was on the brake run, but goodness, that kid could have gotten out of that ride. People are unsafe, not the rides!

I've had the opposite happen. On SDL, I was able to re-ride as much as I wanted yet at SF (at least GADV), the new policy is no re-rides no exceptions. I wish CF would get rid of the no re-ride policy as well.

If Shapiro wants an SLC, there's parts sitting in GL's parking lot...

So, that's what Shapiro went to Europapark for maybe, to talk to Mack and look at his family stuff.
Hope he also took a look at Gerstlauer :)

airtime for everyone

Did you pick the only park that does that? I know SFA, SFOG, SFGAm, SFOT, SFMM and SFStL let you reride unless if there is a exit pass person (handicap group). I always hated that about Cedar Fair not letting you reride.

It really could have been the workers. SF is completely strange to me. All the parks aren't connected except the fact that they all have a SF season pass. SFOG (when I was there) closes the park earlier, and runs one train, and than will put another train on later for particular rides. SFGAm will have both trains on the track all the time.

SFOT runs maximum trains while I was there except for Shockwave which I'm sure one train could have been broke, or given the fact that it's a real old ride that they only want to put one train on when it's really crowded.

It's a parkwide policy at GADV. I wasn't aware the other SF parks hadn't made the change as well based on the reason GADV changed it in the first place. They changed it because someone tried to get a re-ride on a flat (might have been a kiddie ride) and the ride started up while they were trying to get into the car.
