Shamu goes nuts!! @ Seaworld in Texas

Anyone else hear anything about this?? I live in San Antonio and saw something on the local news this morning..Apparantly, during one of the Shamu shows yesterday, one of the whales went nuts and got out of control..alot of kids were scared and so forth..they ended up shutting the show down for the time being...Im trying to find out more news on it...i havent seen anything yet??
Went nuts? Care to expound. Did he do a Howard Dean or something?

Fate is the path of least resistance.

I know what you're talking about. Caught a little bit of it on Good Morning America. Guess Shamu did a little back dive on the trainer that was in the tank and next thing you know, the trainer was using his hands to keep the whale's mouth shut. *** Edited 7/27/2004 5:26:17 PM UTC by JR Villain***

Shamu kinda lost it in Orlando in December and they ended up having to shut the show down.

He was acting strange.. swimming very low near the bottom of the tank and breaching and slapping the water. They tried giving him time to cool off, but to no avail.

Fortunately Kraken was better tempered that day, so all was cool.

Brian, who says the Sea Lion show is the reason to go anyway.

That made me laugh out loud man! That was a good one. I can see Shamu going up onto that stage thing and going "AAARRRAAAHHHHH!!!!!!"

Anyway, hope everyone is ok.

Yeah. The whale that "went nuts" is named Ky.

"He wasn't sure what set Ky off, but said that the killer whale was near breeding age, which might be to blame for the erratic behavior."

Apparently (I just never stop asking questions, LOL)....the killer whales ALL go by the name of Shamu for the purposes of marketing, etc. They each have their own individual names as well, but to avoid confusion (or perhaps CREATE some?), they are generically all referred to as "Shamu".

You still have Zoidberg.... You ALL have Zoidberg! (V) (;,,;) (V)

This was submitted to news, but it sounded like a non-event to me so I didn't post it. Even trained animals do things that are unpredictable at times. Sounds like the trainer did things right.

There's too many puns here....
Shamu goes Nuts/// near breeding age, which could affect those...
erratic behaviour/// erotic behaviour if it is a breeding thing...
I'll say this: that trainer is lucky... Things could've turned out much differant...
how did they even come up with the name shamu?

Kyle, the history of the original Shamu can be found here... The original Shamu died in 1971 after six years in captivity.
Oy, its even exploited in german tabloid news. They show footage of "good morning america" and say that the wale tried to eat its trainer!
Yeah, right.
