Their hearts are in the right place (places?), and they mean well....
.....but there's only one place the "hey, kids, let's put a show in the barn" business planning model works....
If only someone would create a museum about roller coasters, maybe they could have bought a few pieces at the auction to donate...

If only he just gets the "paperwork title" he will save the coaster :sigh:
Do folks realize this isn't like buying a used car?
Huh. Interesting. From an admittedly brief tour of their FAQs, it seems like once you say you're donating X number of dollars, the recipient can access and withdraw the funds. But I couldn't find anything about refunding donations.

Oh, my.
Well, this gives me an idea...
Long been beaten, years back I remember stumbling on gimmeabuck.com. Guy just asks everyone that visits the site to donate one dollar just cause. He made a decent amount of money if i remember correctly.
Oddly enough, when I clicked on BrettV's link I got a screen saying Campaign Not Found, so I'm without the advantage of knowing what everyone is talking about. On the subject of GFM, I was introduced to it by a friend who, like me, can ill afford the high cost of veterinary care. I will probably start my own GFM campaign, as I cannot afford to pay for one of my cats to have dental work ($400-$500) and renew my gym membership ($467) without leaving myself short. Yeah, I'm sure some would say forget the gym but both my own well-being and my cat's are important.

I think I will start a fund as well - I need a new Lamborghini. Why should I pay for it myself when I can rely on others to help me.
Yeah. One of my best friends who lives in Orlando started a GoFundMe for the local stray cat's vet bills. It saved the cat's life. I thought that was a good use of the website.

Coincidentally I had the GFM page open from before it was taken down on my iPad, so I managed to get these screenshots, although I was unsure how to get them in order. Enjoy
Originally the description was only the first big paragraph. "How the 30k will be use?" was added a day or so later after people kept questioning it. (For the time being, it's still in Google's cache.)

Another good way to save money is by not buying plane tickets to ride coasters, especially if you aren't sure they'll be open yet.
The More You Know....
I frequently see GFM pages for veterinary expenses. Why have pets if you can't afford to care for them?
Why have children, cars, houses or teeth if you can't afford to care for them?
People encounter unexpected expenses.
If they put up a page on any of the Internet crowdfunding sites and people donate money, everyone wins.
