SFWOA/CP and my new lust for TTD.

I will try to make this as short and sweet as possible. I arrived at SFWOA promptly at 10am and immediately headed for one of my faves: X-Flight. Sa-WEET! What a sensation. This is the type of coaster that you either love or hate. After my first and only ride (the masses started pouring in quickly and all coasters were running one train each), I decide to head over to Batman since SUE was obviously not going to run anytime soon. I managed to get one ride on Batman before it broke down.

I decide to do Serial Thriller which was beginning to get an insane line, and then to the Bobs. I never thought I would have very many positive things to say about the G-Trains but I was pleasantly surprised! What an improvement! Since it was obvious Batman wasn’t going to fly anytime soon, I decide to see if SUE may have come back to life. Villian’s lines were too long to bother with so I decided to get a quick fix on Mr. Hyde’s. Those old Intamin drops still terrify me to this day!

It was getting VERY crowded and the capacity wasn’t looking any better, so after two ½ hours I decided to make my way over to Sandusky. After checking into the motel I headed up to CP to have my first look at the obvious, as well as get my pass processed. Driving onto the CP causeway still gets to me, and seeing TTD for the first time was beyond amazing. Geez, I never realized just how small Power Tower was! LOL!I waited about 1 ½ to get my pass processed, which wasn’t so bad after I saw the lines on opening day!!

That night I could barely sleep. The anticipation was already messing with my insomnia. The next morning we went to the “marina” entrance and got in a half hour early with our Joe Cool’s. Once we got back to TTD the queue was filling up very quickly as I expected it would. Right off I was VERY impressed with the station and the whole layout of the ride….WOW! They initially started out with one train, and ended up with three I believe. The first couple of times I wasn’t quite sure if it would crest the hill, and was almost certain I would be lucky enough to see a rollback. The trains seemed to keep getting faster as the first hour progressed, which was looking awesome!

Once we got up to the station I noticed the line had grown and went past the Corkscrew. We were LUCKY enough to get to wait for the front row, which only added about 15 minutes to our 1 ½ hour wait! It was MORE than worth it. I absolutely LOVE the trains. Not only are they badass but I found them to be quite comfortable, and unrestricting, just like any recent Intamin I have been on.

Once we were buckled in I felt like I was already on drugs. My friend had her hands in her face getting ready to have a nervous breakdown or something. LOL! The train slowly got up to the starting point. This is were the spectators in and around the “Wuss Stands” as I call them, cheer you on. I am slowly banging my head against the headrest with this cheesy smile on my face, and all I could see ahead of me was bare track that went almost into the sky. My heart was pounding but I wasn’t terrified in the least……..just about ready to explode with anticipation! It was almost overwhelming.

With Republica’s “Ready To Go” barely audible in the background, I started feeling it “rev” up and hear the “dragster” sound effects. I don’t remember looking at the countdown lights. Heck, I don’t remember much after that launch. OH MY GOD! I didn’t realize just how insane this thing was going to be. I actually felt like I left my body. My friend was screaming and I was probably yelling profanities that was heard all the way to Michigan. I don’t remember going up but I DO remember barely catching my breath before looking down into the spiral that seemed infinite. WOW! Then it was the brake.

At this point I could not contain myself. When I got out of the train I could barely walk, and I was shaking for several minutes. I was thinking “Ok…..what the F… just happened?” After picking up an on-ride photo, we decide to go to Mforce. I was still in a daze. I almost felt like it never happened, like it was some warped dream I was having while on acid or something. Weird. My friends that were with me were equally as blown away and we all agreed that it was the best thing either one of us have ever experienced.

Mforce wasn’t too bad either. :-)

Throughout the day we made the rounds, including a few rides on Raptor and Magnum, which were both running better than ever! What did they do to Magnum? Last year is was rough and unbearable. This year it is much smoother and flying like a bat out of hell! NICE! We went to Wicked Twister but of course, it broke down!! OK, back to Dragster. I needed another ride. My friends decided to ride Magnum while I used my “front of the line” pass that CP gave the No Coaster Con attendees back in January. This time I got fourth seat. Again……….WHAT A FREAKIN RUSH! Not quite as intense as the front seat obviously, but just as incredible.

I had an awesome weekend and can’t wait to get back! I knew I would love TTD since I am a huge fan of launching coasters, but of course this one makes the others look like a cakewalk, including Xcelerator. Going from a hot rod to a dragster is quite a difference!

I really had no idea just how EUPHORIC the launch was, or how insane the “downward spiral” would be. I guess the best way to describe it is you are on drugs, drunk, hallucinating, dreaming, dying, seeing your life flash before you, having a religious experience, jumping off a building, flying, and having the most intense orgasm of your life. That would pretty much sum it up without getting too graphic. LOL!

I was in a semi-trance for days afterwards, partly from just not believing that I actually rode something so unbelievable and so surreal. It still seems like a dream. No coaster has blown me away like that since my first and only ride on Xcelerator last year. Kudos to Cedar Point and Intamin! Keep ‘em coming!

I also added some photos of Dragster and X-Flight to my site, and of course some more kitty pictures. ;-)

With regard to this TR...Please...its only a coaster.

With regard to George...appreciate the Beavis & Butthead reference. Smart social satire in that program.

"Only" a coaster? So I'm guessing you haven't been on it?

Good guess.

Actually, I'm sure its amazing, and I've never been as eager to ride a coaster as this one. But the second to last paragraph seems over the top. I doubt that an amusement park ride can (or should) deliver the type of spiritual odyssey she describes.

Plus, talk about a set-up for anticipointment!

Well, saying that a coaster kicks ass gets boring after a while. ;-) Heh.

I've done that. It was overrated. (just being a typical enthusiass ;) )

Still yet to see one bad take on TTD.

Nice TR, Tina!

What day did you go to Cedar Point and how long was the TTD line later in the day?
Excellent TR. It's good to hear someone say "This coaster kicks ass" in a different way. :)

I was there opening day, May 4th. At times I heard TTD's lines got up to a five hour wait at it's peak. I remember seeing the line go beyond the Corkscrew at one point. It's worth it no matter how long you stand in line!

-Tina

Wowza, you actually captured the feeling of the ride quite well!

"Just" a coaster -- might be the understatement of the year there, Kevin. :-p

Wow. I was looking forward to riding, but after reading some of these TR's, I must say, I'm impressed. I guess the simplicity of the layout doesn't take anything away from the experience, eh? ;)

Hey Invy! It's worth the wait! The trip across the Atlantic next year for CoasterCon will be more than worth it. :-)

You will see. Rock on!

You have no idea how much time I spend on expedia.com these days :) If it weren't for keeping Da Claw in the lap of luxury I could probably be there this year heh heh
I *know* it'll be a blast - can't wait for the 'DragsterGasm' although I'll need to spend four hours in the bleachers of wussdom afterwards ;)

CoastermanJ - Nah *never* seen it ;)
