SFWoA..7/24/02...first time yet again:)

Associated parks:
None

i woke up after an incredible previous day at CP. Rob, Kristin and i went out to breakfast, then after packing my stuff, i headed towards Pittsburgh to get ready for a wedding i was a part of the coming weekend. but first, i wanted to make a stop off in Aurora, OH to take on my 4th and final park of the trip...so here goes:)

upon arriving, i noticed that parking was scarce..but i finally managed get a space and walked in. this park is definitely a "parking lot" theme park, haha:) i kinda giggled at how SFWoA made such economical use of the space....however, i was on a mission...coaster #100 was callin my name....

#99 Double Loop....actually, this coaster wasnt all that great....the drop was really weak, and turnaround didnt do much either. the loops were kinda intense, but not like i believed they might be...but still, its Arrow, so i gotta love it:)

finally.....coaster #100!!!!!

Villian.....i was really excited, not only because this was my 100th coaster, but it was my first CCI coaster. i took a front seat ride first...the first drop was really awesome:) great speed, and the second hill gave some good float airtime...but after that, i dont know....the ride just kinda lacked a little. now, by no means did it suck....it was indeed a very fun coaster, but not quite the fanfare i wanted for #100. but still...i enjoyed it very much...i got back on for a back seat ride...i enjoyed it much better. this thing needs PTC trains bad though....they would really help :)

passed up ROadrunner Express, cause it was down, but later on got a ride on it.....Vekoma junior, enough said :)

Batman Knight Flight.....man, what a let down.....those that say B&M is forceless must ride this a lot. instead of that rediculous turn over the station, they should have slapped a zero g roll and maybe even a dive loop in there. the ride just dragged on. its so big.....so much dry space in the ride. i was really dissapointed...but the drop and first loop were cool :) and the cobra roll wasnt all that bad....

Raging Wolf Bobs.....it was ok. good laterals, but not much airtime at all. and really bumpy too...not fun bumpy but boring and painful i-wish-this-would-end painful....to bad too. another woodie with great capabilities, but just lacks too much....

Serial Thriller....i know, another hang 'n' bang...but i actually like the SLC's. they are rough, yes, but the layout is really intense. just wish Vekoma had made them bigger....and it was a walk on, so that made it even sweeter:)

took a quick spin on their version of the Enterprise...nowhere near the cycle time or intensity of Kennywood's but hey, its still an Enterprise...and their Top SPin was a lot of fun too :)

Big Dipper....this was the suprise of the day...freakin awesome!!!! the drop was very nice, the outbound trip was full of awesome drops:) then that return trip....wow!!! this coaster is an airtime machine!! is this a John Miller? help me outsomeone....anyway, my favourite coaster at SFWoA for sure....i loved that thing:) i would have ridden it again, but it was, of course, on a 1 train operation, and the line was over 30 minutes long...

X FLight...i almost didnt ride because of the line, but i really wanted it on my TR, and i wanted to see if there were ANY differences from Batwing. it was pretty much the same..i still like Batwing better though....Batwing often now runs 2 trains, often reclines on the lift, and its almost in the woods, so night rides are a lot more fun and intense. once again, due to 1 train op, X Flight's line was forever long....over an hour. oh well.....

MindEraser...of the three Vekoma boomerangs i have now ridden, MindEraser is definitely the smoothest. good jog SFWoA for taking such good care of it!!! i actually got off smiling :)

Superman: Ultimate Escape.....my first Impulse coaster (minus Volcano of course)....and i was impressed!! i took a front seat ride first....going all the way up the spiral was awesome!!! and believe me....that train came with inches of the top of both spikes...so im assuming it was at full power. however, the back seat ruled!! i can only imagine what Wicked Twister is like:) i loved the hanging airtime in the back seat on that backward spike....i put my arms and legs out, and it just felt heavenly....

after two more back seat rides on S:UE, i decided to head out, and get an early start to Pittsburgh. all in all, SFWoA isnt quite as bad as many make it out to be, but of the 4 SF parks ive now been to, its definitely not up to par. and thats saying a lot for Six Flags:) they do have some winners though...Big Dipper is amazing...keep it up guys :) and S:UE was tons of fun, and Villian, despite its slight lacking, made for a nice 100th.

well that concludes my great conquest....four days, four parks, 37 new coasters, leaving me at 107 for the Track Record. from Kennywood to SIx Flags, this trip was full of memories. thanks for reading.....hope i wasnt too boring:)

Tim (signing off, finally..my fingers are sore :))

Im the #1 Canobie Lake Park Fan!!!These are my top 3 coasters:
1. S:RoS @ SFNE 2. Yankee Cannonball 3. Cyclone/B:TDK

Some day, some way, you all are going to have to explain to me what "forceless" really means. I'm in the "other" camp and think that the new B&Ms are just fine, not nearly "forceless". Granted, very few are Batman, but if they all were, ppl would complain about that too. Oh well. I'm glad you were able to sucessfully complete your 'sojourn'. Good luck in school (you're gonna need it!)

I'm with Jeremy on this one. (Stop the presses! Check the temperature downstairs! ;) ) Especially Batman in the back row, I feel is FAR from a forceless ride. Perhaps it wasn't performing to its usual standards that day.

Hmmmm... Batman... Forceless?? Is this Knight Flight or some other ride named Batman at SFWoA that ive never heard of?

Also you said

"this park is definitely a "parking lot" theme park, haha i kinda giggled at how SFWoA made such economical use of the space"

Which is odd because its a nominee for best landscaped park. Also you obviously didn't get to the wildlife side.

Also RRX is a Zierer (sp) junior, and Serial Thriller is the largest SLC in North America.

ok.....a few words in my defense...

sorry bout the Zierer thing...i assumed RRX was Vekoma because it looks so much like Woodstock at CP....my fault...

B&M being forceless.....a term till now i havnt used.. to me, i apply forceless to a ride in which i "weigh" the same virtually the whole ride, and i do little or no rocking around in my seat. i say, and wont change my mind until i have a major change of heart, that B:KF is just not at all up to par with the other B&Ms ive ridden.....SteveWoA, i personally HAVE ridden Medusa at SFGAdv....and it is worlds and worlds beyond B:KF...two things steve...zero G roll, and Dive Loop. seriously, take out that turn over the station and add those elements in place of that stretch of track, and BAM..youd have a winner on your hands:) again...all this is opinion, and i didnt say that B:KF sucked, i just said it basically didnt do it for me..oh well, to each his own:)

thanks guys for the congrats...feels good to be a part of the elite plus 100 club:)

Tim (no i didnt get to see the wildlife side except from various lift hills. im sure its nice over there....but it would have to be really, really, really nice....cause the rides side is not anything exceptional to look at, by any means. and believe me...i know what a well landscaped park is supposed to look like....BGW is my home park...in other words, i have no idea why in the world that park would get nominated for such an honour....any idea? :))

I'm sorry, I take Tim's side for saying that BKF is forceless compared to Medusa. When I rode Medusa I was blown away by that zero-g roll and the dive loop. BKF had the intense cobra roll and corkscrews, but Medusa had more intense corkscrews and that dive loop cannot be beat.

Both are still great rides. I believe that when Tim said "forceless" he was comparing this floorless to Medusa.

Congrats on being a member of the 100 club Tim! And I'm glad you made it home safe.

I rode Medusa at SFMW last summer and though it was a pretty good ride, I still gave the nod to BKF as the better floorless.

1. BKF has the better first drop and hang time in the vertical loop.

2. BKF does not follow the same B&M formula of inversion after inversion after inversion.

3. Though I do give Medusa credit that they have the zero-G roll, which is the only element I wish BKF had. I love that element!

4. BKF is not forceless, especially if you sit towards the back of the train. With Medusa's inversions coming one after another, I didn't get much "force" in my ride.

I actually thought Batman was one of the better B&M loopers. Not quite Kumba, but close. Oh well, glad you had fun. :)

Thank You for challenging TOS: The Ride. We hope you enjoy the rest of your day, here at SFCB.

hey guys, sorry to pull up this old TR, but i discovered something last night....

4 years ago, i went to a little park called Playlands Castaway Cove in Ocean City, NJ...rode the Python and the Flitzer....and never for some reason added them to my track record here at the 'Buzz.....

now, till today, i thought that Villian at SFWoA was my #100...however, tragically its not....my 100th coaster was actually....get ready for this one...

Mean Streak at Cedar Point :)

haha....i almost fell out of my chair....anyways, it amused me, hope it amuses you...if not, sorry for bothering you...have a nice day everyone :)

That was 150 for me. I thought it was pretty funny.

Way to choke! That was almost as bad as my realization that ST was not my 50th, but my 51st and Wolverine Wildcat was #50. I coulda picked anything else at MA--anything! The Corkscrew reminded me of Bob-lo, ZZ would have been my first CCI family coaster...just about anything there would have been more special. Whatever. I had a great day anyway and never noticed until months later.

The CPlaya 100--6 days, 9 parks, 47 coasters, 2037 miles and a winner.....LoCoSuMo.

I made a similar oversight...for my 50th, I had picked Phantom's Revenge. Due to the fact that I had somehow forgotten to add Mantis to my track record, I now realize that my 50th coaster was Woody Woodpecker's Nuthouse Coaster. Fantastic. I'm hoping to "remember" one more coaster (Screamin Demon at PKI?) so that Legend can be my 50th.

yeah, i agree Playa....it was still an awesome trip....ahh, the irony :)
