SFwoa Questions...Please answer.

Just two quick questions. Me and my fiance' are going in july. First time. So excited. Staying about 4 days. Bought our season pass. Okay. First off....Food prices...What are they like? Prices if you have them handy would be just perfect.

Second...There is the hurricane harbor waterpark. We just bought new water tubes. Are we allowed to have them in the waterpark? Any of the rides allow them? What about the wave pool? Thank you very much.

Firstly, the food prices are pretty similar to other theme parks. Marked up pretty well. However, more than a lot of other parks I've seen, SFWoA has food franchises within its gates. Mr. Hero and Subway come to mind.

However, there is a GREAT Asian buffet (The Mandarin, I believe) on the Life side w/ some great food at decent prices. If you like that sort of food, eat there. Best bang for your buck in the park.

The Mr. Hero cheesesteaks are damn good too... :)

As for the Hurricane Harbor question, I cannot speak for the one at WoA, as I've only been to the one at Fiesta Texas. There you could not bring in huge innertubes/water toys, as they had them supplied for you. (Like WoA) When I saw the wave pool occupied (while I rode the monorail) and it seemed as though all the inner tubes there were Six Flags'.

I know someone else can be a bit more specific.

I live right by SWOA. I HIGHLY DOUBT you can not take tubes in the park. Yes the prices are high. I would go somewhere to eat that is outside the park if you don't want to spend alot of money on food.

You'll get sick of the park with that much time but you'll still have a great time. I live about 20 minutes away and I love it. Oh well about your questions.

I don't have any prices on me but you can expect prices to be pretty high. If you would buy a sub at the subway by Xflight it'll probably be around $5. A full combo at the Mr. Heroe's by The Villain is about $8.50! But that's pretty good considering how much it is for one heroe. The 2 pizza places they have on the Ride side are both Pizza Huts and both are about $5 for a personal pan pizza.

I would suggest eat on the wild life side though. They have much more original food over there. Expect them to be pretty pricey but it's ok because the food is good. I have one place that you cannot miss though. The Mandarin Buffet: All you can eat buffet on the wild side which is sort of by shouka's stadium and the dock for the big boat. The food there is excellent and the staff is so nice. The price is iffy at around $13. But for an amusement park it's a great deal. You have to go there one of the days you're visiting. I highly recommend it.

The rafts I dont really know about. I dont think they let you bring them in but don't take my word for it.

Correction, the two pizza places are NOT Pizza Huts. They used to be.

Anyway, I don't think they will let you bring in your own innertubes though the park guides don't really mention anything about it.

You should also include Jade's Chinese for a lunch buffet ($5.95) on one of the days. They offer the buffet M-F, 12-2 pm. Otherwise, they also have a menu.

Jade's is right outside the park by the Superman: Ultimate Escape roller coaster.

I hope your trip goes well for you... :)

I haven't been to SFWoA, but I would imagine you get the tubes for free.

I am almost positive that outside flotation devices are NOT permitted inside the park. I would call first....

Also, if you are going on a weekday, the park has recently reduced its hours to 11:00 am to 9:00 pm (they used to be open till 10:00 pm), with Hurricane Harbor hours being 11:00 am to 6:00 pm (used to be 11:00am to 7:00 pm). Weekend hours remain the same. This eliminates the "nightly" fireworks show at the Batman Stadium and pretty much eliminates any night rides as it's really not completely dark yet by 9:00 pm. Of course, it's always dark at SFWoA with no lights on the rides and all.... ;)

Also, parking has been raised from $7.00 to $8.00. I'm sure we'll see $10 before this season is over.

In any case, have a good time. Four days is MORE than enough!

Four days???

You might want to go to CP for a day or two instead...there's not anywhere near enough stuff to do for four days.

We figure we will spend a day in the rides side. Then we will spend a day in hurricane harbor. (We absolutely love the water rides and slides, and wave pools) Then a day in the wildlife side. I talked to a friend and they give you a schedule of the upcoming events on the wildlife side for the day. As having never been there we will spend the day watching all the different shows. Also the sky coaster, love those. The go carts. The pearl diving. My Chelle will love that. Then the last day we will just ride and do what we liked best. Kennywood is a fraction of the size, and i can spend days there. And i do...lol Phantom Revenge is my favorite Steelie. And Shivering Timbers is my favorite Woodie. Lets see if the Villian lives up to its hype and takes the number one place for me. Also we are thinging about Holiday World and checking out Legend and Raven. I hear rave reviews about these two. Sorry its so long. Had to give our itinerary for the vacation. We will get to the park on the 9th of July. Staying at Red Roof Inn for 36 bucks a night!!!!!! And leaving on probably on the night of the twelth after the park closes. Had to give the rundown for my trip report when we come back. Any reviews about Legend and Raven are appreciated. I love my Wooden Coasters!!!

If you haven't already been to CP, seriously consider Mark's advice and spend a day (or two, or three...) there. It's only a 1.5 hour drive from SFWoA. (a tad bit closer than Holiday World.)

As for Legend & Raven... Two of the best wood coaters on the planet at one of the best "family" parks. You'd be hard pressed to find any reviews of Legend, Raven, or HW that are less than glowing.

I was looking at the 27 dollar admission compared to 50 for CP actually. HW i hear everybody talk about. CP is corporate...Like a family park. I know i know...SFWOA is corporate too.. They sold me with their coca cola commercial though. BKF looks intense. Villain towers like no other woodie. And shouka also is a reason. We will see. Maybe i can borrow another 100 from my father and me and my Chelle can go to CP too...

The Lazy River has Blue tubes for free...but the line for them is usually a little long... or you can rent single Yellow tubes for $5 + $1 deposite. or Double yellow tubes for $6 + $1 deposite. I was just there this Saturday and the water park was pretty packed...that is why we rented tubes instead of waiting in the river for one. Plus you can rent them all day and take them between the river and the wave pool.
