SFWoA Questions (Please, no bashing!)

I went to SFWoA last year and had a blast, so I'm including it again this year in my CP trip in June. A couple quick questions though... Anyone have any info on the campsites at SFWoA? The website says they offer them and I yes, I can read, so I got the prices there. But has anyone stayed there? I didn't even see them when we were there for the day last year. How would they compare to, say, SFDL (which I love to camp at)? Also in a thread about No Coaster Con, someone mentioned swimming with the dolphins. My wife and I always wanted to do this. Anyone have more info on it? Of course, theres no mention on the SF website (their corporate site is terrible) so I'm hoping for details from someone who was at No Coaster Con... Thanks so much!!!

But then again, what do I know?

The swim with dolphins thing hasnt been announced by the park yet, so it might not even happen this season. Sorry Ive never had to stay there since I live 15mins from the park, however, I have heard they are nice.

Thanks XFlight. If the park didnt announce the dolphin swim at NoCoasterCon, then who did? Or was that just misinformation? Nobody's stayed at the campsite?

But then again, what do I know?

Shane,

It hasn't been officially announced as they are still working out the details. They let us know at NCC because they are planning on doing it but still have some "behind the scenes" stuff to do before they can do so.

I might be able to help you out a bit. The Dolphin thing is coming from last years "experimental" testing with guests being allowed to sign up (for a fee) and have you picture taken with Shouka, Clyde, Seymore, etc. before the shows and interact a little with them. Now they are just taking the interaction part a little further (and the price.) Something like this probably won't be in one massive annoucement. They will probably brin it out slowly by either a radio talk show interview, word of mouth etc. And see how the crowd is. Just like what they did with the before show pictures last year.

As for the SFWoA campsite. While I have not personally stayed there, I have been on site, and I had a couple friends stay there in 2003. Look wise, it's not like a wonderful state of the art campsite (which to me some parks defeat the part of camping.) It reminds me closely of something you would find at a state park. Nice, but not luxurious. It's well shaded, and if I'm not mistaken you can also swim in the lake right at SFWoA also. The place hasn't had a major overhaul for a while (though the park does keep it clean and up to date with standards.) My guess is SFWoA doesn't want to really invest in it until they own that little piece of land right next to it thus making one fully circle park. My friends had a blast there and said people all around them were nice and polite. I'm not sure of the exact numbers of campers they can hold, but I know it seemed a good size (along PKI's same size, but more trees.)

Hoped this helped a little.

Don't know much about the SFWOA campsite, but I stayed at Country Acres campground last year, which is about 25 minutes or so from the park. Much fun! Might consider it as an alternative.

Swim with dolphins?? That would be awesome if it does happen. That is something I have always wanted to do!
