Awesome, looks like a nice site!

man, compare the maps from year to year. there wasn't much of a park in 1997. Is that when the park opened?

Go Full Force

The park opened in the early 1900's as a trolley park (and hideout during prohibition).  Geauga Lake as we know it now started taking shape in the 1970's and the Six Flags purchase in the late 90's transformed it into the theme park they are trying to make it.

Geauga Lake under Funtime, Inc. led the way in amusement/water park combinations, especially with the addition of the Turtle Beach water play area for kids, which was arguably the best of it's kind in the world.

Funtime, Inc. was started by a group of former Cedar Point managers led by Gaspar Lococo (spl).

What will be the new attractions for the 2002 season? I heard they ran into problems with the hypercoaster and the new "world" was opening in 2003. Is that all true? If so, will there be anything new for 2002?

Let's not forget The Wave. That was the world's largest wave pool at the time.

I've got a lot of fond memories of the place growing up. Is it any wonder I'm so frustrated by the way it's run now?

Oh, and to whoever was hating on me because of my alleged "bias" against the park, take that, I picked up an affiliate for the park!

Kudos to you Jeff for picking-up this site.  Although I do not have your history w/GL/SFO/SFWoA, I share your current view of it as not very well run.  Nevertheless, I see great potential for SFWoA.  Let's face it - not all SF parks are as poorly run as SFWoA, SFA and some others.  What if it were run more like SFGAm or SFGAdv?  I view SFWoA as a work in progress that COULD be every bit as good as CP and PKI in 5 or 10 years.

Great so far, and it can only get better with Ryan doin the work.  Considering im an affiliate of his.
Thanks everyone for the comments. The park has really changed even just in my life. I remember as a little kid going into Cinema 180, the Corkscrew, and that wave pool! The additions of Mind Eraser, Grizzly Run, Serial Thriller, and more then hit. Couple of years went by and Six Flags Ohio hit. Now it is named Six Flags Worlds of Adventure. The park has changed a lot in the past decade, that's for sure.

Like i have said lots of times, Dont Complain my Fellow Ohioans for SFMM has worse service. and is trashier so dont complain.

SFMM Season Pass 80$ drink 10$ ripping of six flags by coming back 100 times Priceless......
When I was at SFMM, they had great service. Maybe they have changed?

What kind of simulator? A long while back they had once said something about a "dark ride that would take riders to the deepest depths of the sea" or something like that. Since along with coasters, my other favorite rides are dark rides, I wonder if this is still a possibility.

Also, I do agree that this is a nice site and the proression of the maps is interesting.

The dark simulator is already there on the Sea World side. It is supposed to take you to the bottom of the Bermuda Triangle floor. I've rode it...it is ok but not the best I've ever rode.

There is NoLimit when it comes to Roller Coasters

Yes, but they might be getting another one, maybe it will replace it? NoLimitChic, I agree, it was OK but not that great.

I've been to  Six Flags WOA and it was a wonderful park. Very great rides, good service, you know the usual. SFMM, it's just plain old greatness. Some of the best rides around, wonderful service, beautiful scenery, now why do you guys keep hating on SFMM? Sure, Cedar Point is somewhat better and SFMM is just trying to be just as good. Why don't you guys just enjoy the park and stop complaining?
Actualy Thrillman, the park, opened on 1867 if i rememeber right.
I reckon the park started up in 1888.
