SFWOA in jeopardy?

SFWOA'S attendance was below expectations!  Is this park in jeopardy, or are there plans in store to boost attendance?
If it makes more than it looses than it is doing fine.

I don't see them investing very much in the future.... well, at least for 2002. In 2003 we might see something small, but nothing too much.

Just my prediction. I think SF made a bad descision pumping all that money into the park....

I doubt it, It is a very good park. But poorly managed..

With improvement in management, I am pretty sure SFWOA will see it's attendance increase...

Its a real shame that this park only saw 1.5 million people. Now granted, I have never been there but for what they have to offer for one price (Amusement park, water park, marine life park) you would think this park would have great appeal. The service they provide must be lackluster like many of you say here for them to have that low of a turnout. Just the thought of what they have to offer impresses the heck out of me.
Here in the Chicago area if we want a good amusement park we go to Gurnee. If we want to see animals we have to go to Chicago(Lincoln Park Zoo) or Brookfield(Brookfield Zoo). If we want a decent water park we then have to make our travels out to Rockford (Magic Waters)..
SFWOA has all of that in one spot!!!!!
A SHAME, A DAMN SHAME!!!!!

The park is not in any extreme danger. Ever year it get's better. Six Flags wouldn't of put that much money into an investment that they would fail in the immediate years. Plus when they bought Sea World that created one park. Some people used to go to BOTH Six Flags and Sea World and that would count, but now they can just get in to both with one ticket. We will see...

I just have to say my visit last summer was, well, lets say less than pleasureable. I was very displeased with the park.  Before I was very excited about going becuase the number of coasters and the water park.  The whole problem with the park is managment.  They could learn a whole lot from Cedar Point and Kennywood,  two parks that are fairly close to it.  The only thing other than that would be better signs from when you get off of the turnpike.  If you did'nt know it was with the old Sea World, you wouldn't know where to turn.

OMG I remember that sign thing! You have to like hunt to find the friggn place! THEY NEED BETTER SIGNS!
From the reactions I've heard from people who went there this past summer I highly doubt it.

Well if things don't improve there, in terms of customer service, they aren't even going to see THAT many (1.5 mill.) next year.

In trouble? YES.
Will they put up a new major attraction in 03? YES.
Will it matter to the public? NO, since many of them have had terrible experinces there with customer service, a new ride won't matter to a lot of them.
Will other prices rise in the park? YES. Whatever they lose at the gate, they will have to make up somehow somewhere else.

It's a shame, really.  For what they have invested and for the quality and diversity of the rides and attractions, they only slightly out draw Kennywood.

Are they in jeopardy of closing?  Not a chance.  There's too much invested, and too much at stake.  There have been many mistakes made at the park in the past few years.  (Dropping a 100+ year old name and history was just the beginning.)  If 6Flags has ANY business sense, they can turn it around.  If they don't, I'm sure another company would love to have the opportunity to have such a hot property.

i went there this summer, it's just as nice as Cedar Point!
Unless they make serious changes, It's just going to get worse before it gets better.

I've never said this in any forum, but every time I leave the park, I feel, crudy, like spending my hard earned money and a full day at the park just wasn't worth it. The rides are great, but something else isn't. I don't know what it is exacty. Comon Six Flags, you are better than this, I know it.

How do you know they only got 1.5 million people?  That's pathetic for their size.  Somehow I doubt that it was that bad.  I thought they were expecting attendance of over 3 million.  Although when I did go there it wasn't crowded at all.

Six Flags really does care about SFNE in 2002

I gotta say that IMHO, I was'nt too impressed with the Park as a Whole when I visited the park back in June 2001.
Various things annoyed me from 1 Train Operations when Very Busy, awful/lazy staff, no ice cream when its 95 degrees, and 40 mins queue for Food. Its a shame, because I could write some good comments about the park, but Most of it falls in the negative section.
Top of the complaints list must surely be the Serial Thriller Crew, For a start there was a 45 mins queue which isnt too bad but stacking was happening every time(they could stack one train if they tryed any harder) and the staff were just lazy and very slow, so in effect, it should have been 20-30 mins. Also they have a bizarre rule where they have to wait for everyone to clear the station before they load the next train(If it happen to takes 1-2 Full minutes, then so be it)
They also let disabled people and people with exit passes ride at the front which I witnessed once which I think is wrong, you queue up extra to queue for the front, so to see your seats nicked by people coming up the exit is disgraceful. Thankfully most parks have a strict rule about this(Front Riding from the Exit) but at SFWOA, it seems they do not have this rule, DEAR OH DEAR OH DEAR
Also on the topic of X-Flight, what a shambles, BreakDowns, 2hr Queues, Closures during the day, everyone was abolutly furious by it all, Fights almost started in the Station

I dont think the park is in trouble though, because I believe it does have a great future ahead of it, It has'nt been under Six Flags control for long, so hopefully over time things will improve greatly, but it better happen soon, otherwise if they continue in the same way when I was there, They ware gonna find themselves in serious touble with ever complaining guests etc

Personally, SFWOA should take all its employees to CP for the day to see how to run a Park Properly, because if they think they will ever be better than the Point one day, then they have got another thing coming

Most people that come from the exit have some sort of handicap. Even though you had to wait longer for the front seat, some of these people had things happen to them that stay with them their whole life. Keep that in mind... ;)

And yes, as you said I wish that they cleaned up the bad things about their park. :):)

If you missed it, the 1.5 million figure came from me, which I learned from credible marketing research.
