SFwoA-Getting better everyday

It's nice to see a mostly positive thread on SFWoA. Although not a top park, I always have a good time and recognize that its potential is greater than almost any park in the country.

Not to start a war here, but if the rumored 235' hyper is a B&M for 2004, they might finally be able to back up some of their PR by being able to promote a RELIABLE coaster to the Midwest market.

Ride Big Dipper in the first car and it will be one of the best wooden coasters you have been on in your entire life. The airtime is incredible. If you ride in the back, you might as well kill yourself though, it is truly unbearable.
I must say improved employees/service this year (except the one girl at the bumper cars YELLING at the little kids because they couldn't put their strap on right) ... but now the rides are falling apart and much worse compared to last time, lol... Villain wasn't as fun, Big Dipper I swear I got severe back damage, but overall the visit was much better.

The Ruling: Their service is improving, there were no lines when we were there, however, maintain those rides!!!

Well, it looks like I can't really justify making my homepark the butt of my jokes anymore. I have to give credit where it's due. Nice work.

Employees seem to be more nice this year as well and it seems cleaner. They were running 2 trains on pretty much everything.

My biggest complaints is that it feels like the Six Flags "big maga themepark" spirit doesn't seem to be there as it was when X-Flight was introduced. Maybe it's just me. They improved where we all said they needed the most work. Very nice. I will be returning again this year.

Side note, near where they are rerouting Geauga Lake Road, they seem to be doing more excavation(between new road and parking lot). Are they going to be expanding the parking lot?

I was there also on 6/30. Had a great time. The park is getting better, but they still need to work on keeping the bathrooms clean. My sister had to use one as we entered the park and she said it was filthy. The mens rooms that I used were not bad, but needed some cleaning.

I love that fact that they give rerides when the station is empty.

Lets go Drag racing.

SFWOA is my home park, and it is excellent this year, completely different from the past three years.

The rumored hyper for next year will not be 235', they only received approval for 210'.

Since when does Cedar Point not have reliable rides? Dragster is obviously an exception, and Wicked Twister seems to have gotten rid of all it's bugs.

From my first visit this year (a few Saturdays ago), I agree with the idea that the park has indeed improved. Most coasters had max. # of trains running, and even my fav. Double Loop was running :) The park was crowded but they appeared to be managing crowds well. Let's hope they keep up the good work--I would love to see them have a record year.

210 height + 235 drop = Tunnel!

Where did you see this (actually, maybe I should be asking stopher....)?

That whole 'rumor' has been going around for a while now and I am startin' ta wonder.

SFWoA may be getting better, but based on my last experiance, I would say it still needs a lot of work.

I went Sunday night, at the conclusion of CCF Day. When I first got there, the place was very crowded, and I don't think the park was doing a great job managing the crowds. And this was only with an attendance of 32,000.

One of my big complaints would be the severe stacking on B:KF. It seemed like they were running it like a 2 train operation, but with 3 trains.

My other big complaint was that when the ride was closed due to weather, we were told to exit the way we came in. But the only way to go would be backwords through a 1-way turnstile. They could have at least had the decency of having an employee directing people.

Maybe I am just spoiled by Cedar Point, but overall, I no longer like what used to be a very fun place. I wasted $60 this year on a pass, because I heard of the improvements, but they overall are too small to justify the cost.

Just my humble opinion,

Sam

They had a huge write up in the Cleveland Plain Dealer about it when SF originally received permission to go to 210'. The article had a proposed layout.

I am saying it is not going to be 210' tall, it might have a 235' drop if they build a tunnel.

You're missing the big picture here. If you'd be more open, you'd see tons of improvements. Consider yourself lucky to have 3 on BKF, they don't do it often, which probably explains the extra stacking. They have added tons of improvements (2 flats, a very huge waterslide complex), new shows, and a very expensive nightly fireworks show.

The customer service has been outstanding this year. I've been a HUGE critic of SFWoA, my home park, and it's finally starting to turn around.

Besides, if you want a park to spoil you, go to Holiday World or Hersheypark.

Akron, Ohio: Home of America's Most Boring Hall of Fame!...and LeBron James

Did all of you go to the same park as me? I was just there today, and although I was impressed that all the rides were open at 2 train capacity, this park hasn't changed at all to me. None of the ride ops had any animation in their faces, and they were still as slow as ever. The stacking was not too bad, but it is not easy to get a train out when you only have one to two people checking harnesses; I think some of the rides are understaffed.

The rides there still manage to kick my butt. My body is in so much pain from all of the shuffling and beating received from Villain, Serial Thriller, Mind Eraser, and RWB. It is just so sad to see the Villain deteriorate into oblivion. We rode this ride early in the day and I just couldn't believe how bad the trick track and some of those transitions are, unbelivable. RWB's frist half really gets you but the second half is absolutely wonderful. PLEASE retrack the first half Six Flags. S:UE is shuffling pretty bad during its launches, it felt like one of the fins was gonna hit a mototr dead on because it feel like the train was so out of alignment (I know it isn't though). Aside from the first two valleys, Big Dipper is just insane, kudos to SF on maintaining such a classic. Lastly, I would like to see SFWoA get a new drop ride. Mr. Hyde's has GOT to go. Besides running TWO cars, the ride is extremely rough on the pullout and drop down (even more so than an already painful Demon Drop).

The bathrooms there are disgusting. All I want is for SF to mop the floors of the bathrooms, and for guests to PLEASE flush the toilet when you get out of the stall. I can't get mad for a plugged toilet, because that stuff just happens.

On a brighter note, B:KF and X-Flight have held up wonderfully. Going to SFWoA really makes me appreiciate how incredibly well designed B&M rides are, I will never take them for granted. X-Flight, while it does not seem to be crowded, still captures the attention of lots of guests. The waterpark was packed, and eventhough I didn't hit any slides, that seems to be the place to be at SFWoA. BTW, Hurricane Mountain looks absolutely nuts.

I noticed that they started building a new walkway on the other side of the park near RWB, so many the current path is going and we will get a new ride. All I am asking for is a ride that DOESN'T hurt me anymore! Although the park is better in some aspects, it's still the same old SFWoA to me.

Only? Um 32,000 people seems like a good amount to me. A crowd of that size had to be at least a shock to the staff which is probably used to crowds of half that or less. I'd cut them a break.

The tiger show is pretty good. I like the aquarium, especially the octopus and jellyfish tanks.

My favorite part of SFWOA! :) I was very impressed with those, the chambered nautulis, and their two coral tanks weren't half bad. I didn't expect it to be much, as I'm spoiled living 6 blocks from the national aquarium.

A $60 pass is a bargain for all that SFWoA offers. Show me a park that offers animals, a FREE water park, and thrill rides for less than that.

Besides, don't you visit other Six Flags parks? If not I highly recommend SFGAm.

X Factor

SFWoA has taken a complete turn around from last year. The staff is friendly and helpfull. Customer Service has stepped up this year. The restrooms look better this year than they did last year, with they exception of the ac getting cranked up to make it feel like 20 degrees.

The ride-op crews are like night-and-day. RWB (sometimes) and X-flight crews are the best crews in the park. Most of the crews will allow re-rides if there's no one in your line when you get back to the station. One crew that could use a little "cheering" up is Double Loops. Granted it's old, but come on.

The food is good but a little high in prices, but yet some places are giving season pass members a discount.

The retracking part on the wolf bobs has done wonders for the ride, and so has the old villain train. After they finished retracking the first half of the ride, it should be even better. For Villain, there is nothing wrong with the ride. It's perfect the way it is (especially if you're sitting in 6-1). Big Dipper could use a little bit of retracking itself in some spots and they should put the double down back in.

The park is almost there, still leaves room for improvement. Yet with ACE bringing their tour to WoA next year, you could probably bet that there'll be a hyper coaster being added. Whether it's a B&M or Intamin, it'll be a good addition to the park.

Top 3 Steel Coasters: Magnum XL-200, Millennium Force, Top Thrill Dragster

I guess if you don't have a spine Villain is ok. :) All I am saying is that the Villain used to be a classic woodie- intense but not painful. When I'm elbowing my friend in the face because my arm was up and I got slammed on the drop after the first turnaround, something is wrong. Shivering Timbers drop after the turnaround is intense, but it does not jerk you anywhere.
