SFWoA Construction Updates & Notes:

Hello Coaster Friends Who Are Now Trying To Find The Best Sled Riding Hill To Achieve Great Airtime,

This past weekend was a GREAT closing weekend to be at SFWoA. Great times all around. I thought I'd go in depth here on all the construction going on at SFWoA to keep everyone up to date. I have made many trips around the surrounding area. And I can assure you that there is no visible coaster track anywhere (that doesn't mean that there isn't any though). ALL management was hitting that the park will hold off for the coaster and be making much needed improvements for the park in 2003. And it looks like the new land might be opening with the coaster in 2004? If you want to see the pics of the stuff mentioned below just follow the link at the bottom.

Geauga Lake Road is now being Re-routed. After it has been announced last year, SF is now moving Geagua Lake road. You will NO LONGER have to crosss the road in order to enter the park on Wild Rides side. It's entrance is now located (or soon will be) 100yrds N. of SF Wild Rides Parking Exit. The road will exit at SF Maintenance building. It also looks like the road might be a new access point for the employees.

There are now traffic lights installed at SF Wild Rides Parking Exit. And At Geagua Lake Road's soon to be new entrance.

Raging Wolf Bobs is recieving a total track replacement. Workers are tearing up the track and laying down all new track. There are also adjusting supports in certain areas of the ride.

There is a TON (litterally) of wood in the Wild Life Side parking lot. Looks to be all for RWB's and looks like it will be for a COMPLETE retracking job of RWB's instead of just half as rumored before.

There are markings now layed out for a turnaround on the Wild Rides side parking lot. It now makes sense why the landscaping was done the way it was on the Wild Rides side [ [icon_wink.gif] ] The turnaround will drop people off dead center in front of the great landscaping and flag area of the Wild Rides parking lot. It's entrance will be the current Geauga Lake Road entrance (which is right next to X-Flight). Looks to be a MUCH needed improvement.

You will no longer have to cross the road on the Wild Rides side. As mentioned above, those improvements will open up the road there for SFWoA. A much needed safety factor is now taken care of. It will improve crowd flow, and safety for the park.

As mentioned last year, SFWoA wants to build a new land. This land is to be located between RWB and Happy Harbor. It was rumored to start last year and is stated that it will take 2 years to complete. It's stated that it will have some type of water ride, walkthrough volcano, many animals, and more. There are now markings all throughout that area. MANY trees are maked for certain things down there now!!

I will try to get even more pics throughout the off season, but enjoy for now! Let the SFWoA discussions begin...

Thanks for the pics! Can you [or anyone] confirm if RWB is getting a retracking or if there is any reproifiling involved as well? Also, I had heard from a source that GCI was involved in some retracking projects this year...looks like this could be one of them?

About the markings on the trees, those have been there since the beginning of the year. It actually seems like some of em have dissapeared. Its nothing new at all.

They had about 10 or so marked at the beginning of year from what I remember. From talking to management they have marked about 75 more with in the last week. Original plans, if I remember correctly where to start construction on the new land last fall, during the end of the season. It's really tough to tell on what time exactly any of SFWoA ideas are REALLY going to take off, since they have about 5 already announce things they are going to do, but no "opening dates" set yet.

Haunted Ohio Parks...you've been warned!!

Great to hear about WOA. I had an absolute blast when I visited in August this year, so these improvements sound like it will make the park better then ever. Hey, Raging Wolf Bobs might actually become decent! But I cant say I wont miss the entertaining shuffling of the car in front of you.
Retarcking is greta but i really hope they get new trains. Those PTC's are atrouscious.

The PTC bodies are fine.. it's the running stock thats the problem. Just remove the trains, convert the hitch's from trailered to articulated and vola!
I guess this means Ragin Wolf Bobs will ride better; I enjoyed the trains as they had the simple buzzbar and no headreasts. Physical imporvements to SFWOA will be great, but if they don't improve with their people (rude employees) and operations (one-train on EVERYTHING, plus rides being down), then that work won't mean much to me. Great rides and layout, but horrible management, that's what I got on my first vist there in June.
