SFWoA 9/22 -- Where IS everyone?

Associated parks:
None

I'd been looking at a PKD trip this past weekend, but unfortunately had to cancel.  However, I was still in the mood to ride.  So Saturday afternoon after lunch w/ the family, I decided that the weather was just too darn nice to stay home, and headed out to Geauga Lake.

I didn't get to the park until 4, and the park was closing at 8.  I'd figured I'd get a few token rides in to hold me off.

The park was REALLY empty.  I heard 3000 people TOTAL from a manager.  The result was 22 laps on S:UE (including 10 in a row without leaving the station -- they were allowing rerides), 2 on BKF (front & back rows), and a lap on Villain to close out the night.  (I'd originally planned to stay on Villain the whole time, but when I saw the nonexistant S:UE line I decided to marathon that for a while).

All that, and I still had time to eat dinner at the park (although I wish I hadn't -- the chicken fingers were very bland and dried-out.  Ugh)

After the park closed, I drove back home to Pittsburgh, stopping at the newly-opened Krispy Kreme in Cranberry for some REAL food ;)

Not a bad way to spend an afternoon.  I was REALLY surprised at the light turnout -- I can't imagine how many laps I'd have gotten if I'd been there all day (although I can get an idea -- Raven-Phile was there and had I believe 45 S:UE laps among his rides)

Oh man, I was considering going on Saturday.  However, my wife had knee surgery thursday so we couldn't go.  Was X-Flight open?  I wasn't able to ride the last time I was there.  The smell from the sewage made my family sick and we had to leave early.
And to think that the 22nd was on a Saturday.

22 laps on Superman: Ultimate Escape, that's awesome. 10 re-rides without getting off. I would love that.

Sounds like you had a great time.

Nice trip report. Greg, since you said there were only about 3,000 people in th park maybe I will stop at Six Flags Worlds Of Adventure one more time. When I went I waited at least close to 2hours on Batman Knight Flight along with X Flight. The Villian was close to an hour. Did you ride X Flight was it open, plus since you said it wasnt realy busy was everything pretty much a walk on did they have pretty much two trains of operations on each coaster and were they all open? If I have time  from Cedar Point I may stop at Worlds Of Adventure also if I have good driving time. One last ride on Batman Knight Flight!

X-Flight was open, but it was hard to make myself wait in ANY kind of line when I could just sit on S:UE... ;)

(Besides, 9 laps earlier this year is PLENTY... My trip reports tend to be pretty inclusive, generally if I don't mention something it's safe to assume I skipped it.)

I wouldn't COUNT on the park being this deserted during their FearFest stuff, although it would be nice.

man i knew i should have gone to WoA on saturday! but no instead i went to Carowinds and had to deal w/ "Jesus Fest" all day when there was like hundreds of religious groups there, all i hvae to say is this... i may be from West Virginia, and we do get classified as having a lot of rednecks and hillbillies, but south carolina/north carolina has waaaaaaaaaaaaaay more, my final thoughts..... just cause you have a good homepark or a beach doesn't mean you aren't a redneck!

I love going to parks when there is no lines. When I went there on Sept. 9 it was empty. I got on X-flight 4 times with only about 2 rides in front of me. I also got on Batman 11 times. Even though SFWoA is the crappiest park, I still had fun. Because looking at almost no line for X-Flight makes me feel like I'm in heaven. It would be the best day of my life if it was the MF'er at Cedar Point, I would ride it non-stop all day.
I have heard that there are alot of walk-on's during the Fright-Fest time too.
