SFWoA 10/18/02 - The Best Trip Ever?

Associated parks:
None

Myself, and my friends Nick and Tom decided to make it out to the park one last time before the end of the season. I’d been there twice previously, both on Friday nights in September, and was yet to wait in a line at the park. We left for the park about 7:00 and arrived at 7:30. It was pretty cold at home, so we figured that it wouldn’t be too crowded, but when we got there, it was the more crowded than the other two times I had went.

The first thing we did when we got into the park was head straight for the Villain. We waited about 5 minutes and had a great ride, like usual. I’d have to say that the Villain is definitely the one thing that keeps me coming back to Six Flags. Its an amazing ride and I just can’t get enough of it. As we were getting off we noticed that the line was starting to go down the stairs, so we’d come back to it later.

As we were walking down the stairs it started drizzling, but we decided that rain would probably be good, because it would make some people want to leave. We headed to Batman next and decided to wait for the front seat, which was about a 5 minute wait. By the time we got on the ride, it started raining a little harder, but it seemed like it was raining just the perfect amount. It wasn’t pouring so hard that it hurt like hell during the ride, but it also wasn’t raining so lightly that you couldn’t feel it. That ride was probably the best Batman ride I’ve had this season.

As we were getting off, we all agreed that we had just had one of the best rides ever and we should go around and do it again. This time the line for the front seat was pretty long, but we decided to wait for it anyway. After about 15 minutes in line, we got another awesome ride, not quite as powerful as the first, but still great. We thought about riding it again, but decided instead to head over to the arcade to play some DDR.

We were in there for longer than I thought, and when we finally left it was about 9:30. We headed over to Big Dipper and I took a ride near the back. After we got off, I thought to myself… If 1-3 is the ejector seat on the Magnum, then is the third row the ejector seat on this ride too? I decided to answer my question by riding in row 3. I’m not sure if this can really be labeled an ejector seat, but if had way more airtime than in the back.

It was about 9:45 when we got off, and we headed over to Superman next. We stopped for a few minutes on the way to watch the Hot Seat, which seemed pretty stupid to me. I would never waste my money on something like that, but I guess there are plenty of people who would. We got to Superman and took a ride near the middle since it was the only place were there wasn’t a line. When we got off, we tried to stay back on, but the ride op made us go around. As we were walking around, I said to myself… Man, that ride op looked kind of familiar, but I couldn’t think of where I’d seen him before.

We went around and took another ride on Superman, this time in the back, and then I realized where I’d seen that ride op before. So I asked him if he was a member of CoasterBuzz and he said he was Jes (Zero-G), so I talked to him for about a minute and then took 3 more rides on Superman before moving on. When we got off, we noticed that X-Flight, which had been closed when we first got to the park, was open, so we got to ride that in the back seat, which IMO, is the most intense row of anywhere on the ride.

When we got off we couldn’t really decide whether to go again or to go back to Villain to get in a few more rides before the park closed. We were under the impression that the rides closed at 11:00, one hour before the park closed, but to our surprise, that wasn’t the case. By the time we got to Villain it had been raining pretty much all night, and it was really starting to get cold. We rode Villain a total of 14 times in a row without ever getting off, before finally deciding to leave.

It was really cool, because we would take a lap, and then when we pulled into the station, the ride op would say… “Anybody want off? No? Ok then, we’re off.” And we would just keep going around and around. After getting our 14 laps, we decided to get off because our hands were frozen stiff. One thing I didn’t understand was why they didn’t have the last 2 cars open all night. I asked one of the rides ops and she said it was because it’s hazardous to open them when it’s raining. That didn’t really make any sense to me, but maybe that was the case, I don’t know. We went to the Fearanoia haunted house next and they let us in without wristbands since nobody was there anyway. It was alright, but wasn’t really all that scary.

We figured we might as well see if Batman was still open, which it was, when we walked into the station we headed for the front row, then I got to talking to one of the ride ops, and she said that they were having near roll-backs on the loop. This was definitely true because we barely made it over the loop. I got 3 rides in a row in the front seat before finally leaving.

We pulled out of the parking lot at about midnight, and were on our way back home, making for another great trip to SFWoA. As we were driving home, I though to myself… Back in the summer, I was just like your average coaster enthusiast, I hated Six Flags and said never really wanted to go there. Well, I guess that’s all changed, because I’ve been to Six Flags 3 times this season, and am yet to have a bad trip.

Sounds like an awesome night! I was also there, I wonder if we talked. I rode the Batman 15 times and I had to recruit people by 11:30 so the train wouldn't valley before the loop. They told me if I could get 14 people on the train they would run it. I also talked to the ride op on Batman... Laura? and she was really cool. She thought it was hilarious that I recruited kids and went on to tell me I was her favorite guest ever! We sat in the front seat with the harnesses up for like 20 mins just waiting for people to come up to the station. I managed to get a ride in the last seat on Villain also, at about 8:00. It was a good ride but soon after they closed it off. That had to be my best trip ever to SFWoA!
No... I was never recruted to ride the Batman. I can't really recall the ride-ops name that I was talking to, but I do remember that she had a blue Superman sweatshirt on and was pretty cool.

Yes well we are talking about the same girl then... yeah she was a lot of fun. I talked to her for quite a while. You should have hung around for another half hour and we could have had a front row ride on BKF because I was searching for people. Get this, they were waiting for me to get more people, so I ran all the way to the fountain the last time to find people, even asking a few monsters who said they couldn't ride because they were on duty. We were desperate, but glad to hear you had a good time!

I was hoping that someone would find me sooner so I could give them a couple of SFWoA tickets, but seeing as how you probably have a season pass, and it's the last weekend of the season, well, I guess they're useless. But I'll find you something, yes, something... bruhahaha.

Jes, boy oh boy, totally slipped my mind. Forget I even mentioned it ;)
Come to think of it... I believe I did see you on the DDR machine Julie. And Jes, I don't have a season pass, I've just used people's season pass book coupons to get in cheap. I'll have a season pass next year for sure, unless I work there, which is looking like a possibility.
