One of my friends and his girlfriend were going to the park on Sunday and invited my fiancee and I along. I was expecting extreme heat and extreme Labor Day crowds, but since my fiancee and I have season passes and have already been and done everything this year, it was no big deal.
We arrived a little before 10 am and waited about 10 minutes for them to drop the ropes. We headed straight over to Gotham City to ride Batman. My friend and his g/f had never ridden Batman and my fiancee and I have never ridden in the front of a B&M inverted, so we decided on the front. 10 minute wait and we were on. WOW! The front rules! Much better than any other seat! I'm sold.
We headed to Mr Freeze to see a line forming outside of the building. The ride was closed, so we were going to pass. Just as we were passing, they opened it up again. We had a 2 train wait. This is not my favorite coaster by any means, but that LIM launch and the trip up the spike is just simply amazing!
Next up was the Mine Train. Walk-on. You can never have a bad ride on this one! I love it! Always will!
We then headed to the Schwartzkopf masterpiece known as Shockwave. Again, you can never have a bad ride on this one! We had a 2 train wait. With a very loose lapbar and seat belt I got some massive airtime on this ride!
We then headed over and rode Yosemite Sam's Gold River Adventure. I still like the Spelunker Cave better, but this ride is still fun. It's always nice to have a relaxing ride in the A/C.
Next up, we headed to the dark spot in the day. We decided to go ride the Texas Giant. This is my favorite ride in the park, but was the worst part of my entire day. We walked to the station and had a 1 train wait. We sat down and went through the requisite lapbar checks. The op on the right side of the train (my side) just did a quick grab-and-run check. The op on the left side tried to push my fiancee's down, but she had her leg up so he couldn't. Believe it or not, this was my first ever ride on one of these! I don't know why, but I've always passed it up. Pretty cool ride! The pullout was more intense than I anticipated! I hope this ride stays now.
Judge Roy Scream was our last coaster ride for the day. This is just a nice little out-n-back woodie. At least nobody got STAPLED on this ride!
Our last ride of the day was the Texas Chute Out. This one is a sentimental favorite from my childhood. I still enjoy it a lot. Does anybody have any specs on this ride like how tall it is or who the manufacturer is? I'd really like to know. I hope this ride stays for many years to come.
That was it for our day in the park. The crowds were unexpectedly light for a Labor Day weekend. It could have been the 110 degree heat that kept them away, too. We left a little before 3 after a little less than 5 hours in the park, but got more done than we expected. With the 110 degree heat, we were definately ready to leave by then.
