SFOG's Acrophobia?

Does anyone know how far along Acrophobia is in construction? I was wondering because in about 3 week's I'm going to Florida and we're stopping at SFOG to buy our season passes because they are cheaper. The reason we don't buy them at our home park is because.. well.. my home park is SFGAM and their passes are some of the most expensive out there. So anyway back to the subject, does anyone know?
As far as I know, Acrophobia hasn't risen much lately. Last I heard, the base and about 10 of so feet of the tower were in place. I also read that someone say the gyro ring with a few seats on it in the back of the park near DeJa Vu construction. It is supposed to open in late May or earlier June. Sorry, you'll have to come back in June if you want to ride.

You also must remember that it doesnt take long to install drop towers. Once vertical construction started at Six Flags Fiesta Texas on Scream it was up in no time.
I was there on opening day and the only thing that was up is the firs blue cylinder. It's about 10-15ft off the ground. It's pretty cool cause they only have rails and no big wall like at most parks during construction. I'm just curious to this really long and tall building being built next to it. It almost looks like the entrance/exit will be made next to the candy shop across from the cylone.

Also I can say all the pieces for the tower are in the parking lot and I got a few pics of them. They are all blue and purple. Also again they let you get really close to them infact I even touched one of the huge cylinders. There were Acraphobia cars in sight but there were Deja Vu cars rapped in some tarps sitting on wooden boards.
I really hope it is done because this will be the only time this year (probably a few years) that I will be at SFOG. SFOG has a special significance to me. It was the place where I went on my first coaster which was the Mindbender. I would like to go back on that one. I don't really care if Deja Vu is done since they're building one up here at SFGAM.

I'll cross my fingers!

You didn't happen to snap any pics of the Acrophobia cars, did you? I'm still baffled as how you can have your feet dangling while you are standin up.
Has anyone seen an illustration of a roto-drop where you actually stand-up while your feet are dangling? That's an oxymoron!
Here's a link to a site with a pic. It's a little blurry, but you can make out a pic of the seat at the bottom. http://heidepark.homestead.com/files/SFoG1.jpg

At the very bottom of the page above the words "Launch Position" it appears that there is some type of small platform there. Is that correct or is that just another view of where the feet are going to be?

FWIW, if you are headed to Florida via I-65, you will pass right by SFKK, where season passes are cheaper than SFOG by about $5.

Thought you'd like to know...

Ouch! Holy crap! It's a B&M stand-up with no floor!

I have a hard time (or actually, the exact opposite), thinking this thing is family friendly.

Sorry man, I got some pics of the Deja Vu cars that were rapped up and some seats that weren't uncovered that were sitting on wooden blocks. I didn't get any pics of the Acrophobia ones although along with the two guys from ACE I met who were taking pics we looked for them. They didn't understand what a standup with no floor ment either. I'm going to try and use my friends scanner to put the pics on the disk so hopefully I can post them somewhere so you can look at them.

John Byron,

I did know that the passes are cheaper there but my friend invited me to go to Florida with him. The original plan was that our family was going to Louisville to see my aunt and we were planning on getting the passes there, but then my friend asked me to go to Florida with him at the same time. So my family will still be getting theirs there. And I will buy mine in Georgia.

:-) Thanks anyway though
