SFOG shortage on good rides?

I was just wondering if anyone know why SFOG seems to have a hoorible shoortage of good rides compared to the other SFs. Also does anyone know if SFOG will be getting a hyper coaster or any other type of coaster next year since they seem to get a new coaster every 2 years and this is the second?

All signs point to a hypercoaster themed to Superman But the park may get some kind of launched coaster to eventually replace the viper. They could also use a Freefall ride to replace there aging one. But I do not know why SFOG does not have a great selection of flat rides. At least I hope you are talking about flat rides. I Happen to think they have a great selection of coasters.
Wood Twister "Cyclone"
Wood Out and Back "GASM"
Inverted "BTR"
Standup "Scorcher"
Sit Down Looper "Ninja"
Shwarzkopf Looper "Mindbender"
Mine Train "Dahlnoga"
Launched Laser Loop "Viper"
None of them are Record Breakers But It is a nice selection especially if a hyper was added.
But as for Flat Rides the rumors are of a new area to accomadate Supes with a few flat rides maybe the same addition SFNE got.

Look at how short BTR is compared to the other inverted coasters the ride is only like 30secs. Also look at the scorcher it has a nothing drop and doesnt do anything besides a loop and inline twist. It is also a very short ride. How can you consider the Ninja a good ride it hurts so bad and all u do after that ride is come of with a hedache.
I had huge problems with the park when we visited last May - it was the most under-staffed/poorly run place I've ever been to - but we actually loved the coasters. BTR is a little short, true, but fun; Mindbender has such a pretty layout and is a blast; the Cyclone kicks butt; loved GASM, also a beautiful ride; and I thought the Scorcher was the best stand-up I've ever been on, although I don't much care for that type of ride.

I'll have to agree with you about the Mindbender(used to be my favorite)cyclone, and SM but look at the Ninja. The Scorcher is ok but not if youve been on Riddlers Revenge at SFMM or Manis at CP. SFOG just seems to have less than the average other SFs.
I agree with T-Wolf about SFoG.

There is a great mix of coasters, and none of them are below average for performance. I don't remember Ninja to be as rough as OL:FOF, Joker's Jinx, DrachenFire, GASM at SFGAdv, or Vortex at PKI.

Add this to the fact SFoG has always been one of the nicer layouts of a SF Park.

With the exception of the headache inducing NINJA I really enjoyed the coasters in Georgia. While some have been topped by other experiences in my recent multiple coaster trips, some things like the Mindbender, GASM and Cyclone are quite fun. My only complaint was the trash, the graffitti and the lackadaisical staff last summer.

I went Yesterday and while the trash is a problem in the themed line for batman I did not notice any other problems with the park. As for Ninja, it is not as rough as ya'll make it out to be. Nor is Vortex for that matter. The Scorcher is the best stand up coaster I've ever been on (and I've ridden Mantis). SFoG does lack good flat rides, but the roller coasters are great. GASM is one of my all time favorites. Ninja is my second favorite sit down looper. Mind Bender is a great ride. And you can't beat that first drop on the Cyclone (now if they would only turn off the trims...). The staff is poor but they are no longer understaffed. The place is alot of fun. And it is beautaful. The only other Park I've been to that compares with it is Bush Gardens Williamsburg. SFoG does alot with there flower beds and big leafy trees, and those wonderful ivy tunnels. It is really a nice place to spend a day. *** This post was edited by MFBound on 8/4/2000. ***

I agree, the park IS beautiful, but... I really hope (for the sake of all the people going there now) they HAVE hired more staff - especially to pick up the garbage (the line for the Mindbender was basically awash in refuse) and to cut down on line jumping, which was unbelievably bad when I was there.

I've read all of your replies and i think you are all way off. I live about an hour and a half away from SFOG, so I've been there a fair amount of times. I think that it is as close to a dumpster as an amusement park can get. It's rides are fisher price compared to Cedar Point and the park smells like puke! The park is overcrowded and it is highly overcharged. As for the people who think that the scorcher is better than the mantis, i just want you to know that drugs are illegal. Sorry if i suprised anyone, but these are the facts.
I totally agree with briguy since i live so close to SFOG i've been there many times and the rides aren't as innavative or long as rides at any of the other SFs, but i guess if some people like the place it's their opionion. It's just that they have hardly any good coasters or flat rides. There coasters are extremely short especiall Batman and the Scorcher. The park isnt vey beautiful either evertime i've been there, there has been tons of litter all over the ground and trash in the gardens and ponds. And i dont even want to talk about the staff there. Maybe my opinion would be different if they actually cared about the customers and maybe had a hypercoaster or florless or something new that is atleast over 30seconds.
I agree. I was there yesterday and 5 rides were closed including Viper and Thunder Falls. The park was very understaffed. They were running one train on all the coasters.Even though the line was over 1 1/2 hrs. on Cyclone, Batman and Scorcher. I complained to Guest Relations and had to wait 10 minutes to just get helped. It will be a long time before I ever return to that place. I would recommend people avoid it
I did not say that That SFOG is the greatest park in the nation. My point is that SFOG does have a very good selection and variety of coasters. Most parks in the nation can't say that they have 8 coasters let alone the wide variety of coasters that are at SFOG. You are right in saying that they don't have the longest or the tallest or the best coaster in each category but you will have a tough time trying to find a lot of parks with such a variety.

The only two coasters at SFOG that I give high praise too are mindbender(for layout and no shoulder restraints) and cyclone(wich is a nonstop airfilled coaster and will leave you disoriented when you ride in the backseat)

I am just defending the coasters at SFOG I do agree with most of what is said with the exception of the price(SFOG is one of the cheaper SF parks). The park is dirty and understaffed, as most SF parks are but if they build a hyper next year I will forgive them and renew my season pass. Oh wait a minute I will renew it anyway.

Well I live about 20-25 minutes away from Six Flags over Georgia. I have a season pass, and I go as often as I can. I love the park. I can't get enough. They are understaffed. They really do need some handymen and workers, but that's not their fault. Enough people just aren't applying for the jobs there and that's is really the park's only problem. The park is very well landscaped and very beautiful. They do indeed have a great selection and variety of coasters. And for 2001 the selection and variety will grow. I love the Batman and Scorcher. The Mindbender is one of my all time favorites. The Ninja also. If you sit in the back there won't alot of headbanging. I mean the Ninja is a Vekoma and as Vekoma's age we all know they get rougher, The park didn't make the ride rough. And it's really not that rough to me.
The staff is actually pretty fun. Once the Ninja stalled on the hill for a while, and a lady came up and told jokes.
But I really like the park and I can't wait for 2001

Oh yeah and the scorcher doesn't have an inline twist it has a corkscrew *** This post was edited by KenKen on 8/16/2000. ***
