SFOG: Big steel any time soon?

I live in Atlanta and I was wondering if anyone out there knows whether or not SFOG will be getting a steel hyper any time in the near future. I think, as far as coasters go, this is one thing that is missing for them. Anyone out there heard anything?
Not likely, at least in the next few years. I have a feeling that something launched will be next, although the south could use a good hyper coaster!

Considering the height restrictions at the park, I would imagine that a hyper would have to be fairly short (SFH's Goliath comes to mind) or go quite a ways underground.

It's definately on the drawing boards. No one really is for sure when it will get here though.

Happiness is like peeing your pants. Everyone can see it, but only you can feel the warmth. Trip pics are here: http://www.pbase.com/jhbd99.

The SFOG hyper has been rumored since....what? 1996? At least. It would certainly be a nice addition but I wouldn't hold my breath.
Exactly what is the ceiling of SFOG, I mean Deja Vu is 191, and Acraphobia is just as tall, is SFOG only allowed to have that tall spikes or what? 191 ft intamin hyper could be insanely great! Cough * Expedetion GeForce* Cough.
Just like the SFStL and SFWoA one.... *sigh*

Well this is whats on tap for this year.

Amusement Business confirms our rumors about the park adding a few smaller attractions this season. They report that the park will add five family attractions this season to include: Zamperla Balloon Race, Gondola Wheel, and a Chance mini mine train.

In all honesty, can we think of a SF park that hasn't been rumored to be getting a hyper coaster at some point?

Besides SFEG and SFKK, of course.

I heard SFNE is getting dueling hypers next year. Seriously...I did.

Hobbes: "What's the point of attaching a number to everything you do?"
Calvin: "If your numbers go up, it means you're having more fun."

Andy its not right to play with my emotions like that!! HAHA! Dueling hypers would be really sick!

Thanks,
DMC

The odd hieght restrictions at the park are hard to precisely figure out because of the very hilly terrain at the park. Some areas are much lower than others. Usually the rumored area for a hyper is basically right where deja vu is, on the edge of the park near the go-kart track. That is the lowest part of the park.

Anyone who actually gets their emotions even the least bit elevated over a wild rumor like that needs to have their head examined.

Big boy it was a joke!

Gotcha. You never know around here.

The general rule is 200 feet, but this is not a set heigh restriction. The Great Gasp is over 200 feet (225 I believe?) - the park would need to get approval to build over the 200' mark (fulton county airport near the park). I agree, a 200 foot Intamin hyper with a drop to an underground tunnel would be incredible.

SFOG: Big Steel any time soon?

Yes, an impulse.

Plus, the Hyper rumors are now pointing to those airtime-lacking beemers.

I think it would be cool if they had an intamin rocket coaster with the station and launch in an underground tunnel. it could be the same as xcelerator in height and speed. as you emerge from the tunnel you start the climb up the 215 foot tunnel, go over the top hat, back down the tower, and into the tunnel to the brake run.

"English! Who needs that, I'm never going to England" Homer Simpson
Yes, just what oG needs. Another coaster that's total time is waaay under 2:00.

Phew, thank God we have thepinkdoomofmonkeys around here or else we'd never know what SFoG is getting!

My hats off to you, sir.

OMG I have a new sig!!!
Well thats jacked, cause I heard they were getting an Intamin Launched Mouse.
