SFOG and Deja Vu???

Hi everyone, whats going on with DEja Vu? I was thinking about heading down there this weekend, but that is one of my favorite rides. I noticed it is no longer listed on their website. I saw on here someone stated the train was being revamped, if this is the case, when will it reopen?

Thanks

PS - I only got to ride it once, because it was never working!

When I was there on 4/5, the train wasn't on the track. I am now 0 for 3 on visits to SF parks and Deja Vu isn't working. I also heard the train was being revamped, but I don't know for sure.

Gotta love Vekoma.
Vekoma probably has nothing to do with this. This is just annual maitenance or that seating change.

People scare me.

Word in the park is that the park is shooting for it to reopen around Memorial Day.

I have no idea what is being done to the train, but I don't think the seating will be changed... but, I can't positively say one way or the other.

Do you think they are going to do this to SFGAm DeJa Vu?
It seems like dejavu is ALWAYS closed!

Vekoma GIB's have a tendency to stall or valley in cold weather. Perhaps the SFOG and SFGAm [when it opens] are merely waiting until it's warmer to operate them? SFMM's has been operating just fine.

I don't think so... it ran fine in chilly weather last fall. It can't run now, though... it's train still isn't on the track!

Ok, the seating arrangement is not being changed. I talked to the mechanics about what they are doing. Basically Buzzo hit it right, it does have to do with Vekoma. Basically, to put it lightly and to not get into technical terms, the mechanics are stripping the cars down to their basic A frame and "un-Vekomaing" them. So hopefully, this will help the ride in the long run.

Well, to counteract SVLFever...

I am 3 for 3 for DejaVu's at the three parks...

I have gotten all three stateside GIB's, but am nowhere NEAR three for three....I've seen SFoG's closed more often than open, and on SFMM's I got enough rides during ERT to never want to wait 2 hours for another DV ride...;). GAm's, just got enormously lucky, waited through rain, a breakdown, cold, and got that one ride...w000t!

Kinda disappointed they're not changing the seating arrangement since they're tearing them down so completely anyway....if they can reduce the friction enough to make any considerable difference in reliability, just by working on the trains, I'd be very surprised....personally, I think the problem is in the layout...but I'd be only too happy to be wrong...

Well this stinks...I am making my first trip ever to SFOG in May and I likely will not get there again for quite awhile...and considering that I don't live near any of the other parks with GIB's, I may never get a chance to ride one...Oh well, I wasn't really expecting it to be open anyway, but I thought there might be a slim chance :-(

Sean,

It does stink that Deja Vu most likely will not be open, for it is a great ride. However, you will be more then happy with your trip to SFoG. Superman is great in itself, not to mention IMO the best stand up coaster in the southeast (The Georgia Scorcher)
The Great American Scream MAchine is awesome, and supposedly better after the intense maintenance this offseason. I am just walking out the door to head down to georgia. This will be my first visit of the year!

Maybe they'll spring load the wheels, thus reducing some of the "bumping around" that has started to become evident. However, the exacts of what is being done is unknown to me. All I have seen of them is most of the cars down to their blue frame with the back foot plates still on them, however one car has been sanded down to bare metal.

Don't worry though, if there's a gleam of hope Deja Vu can ever work great, the right people are fixing it. I'd have to say the best crew of anyone out there at our park for doing their job above and beyond what its expected, is our maintenance. They deserve so much praise. They are the ones who did original tweaking to get Deja Vu to even work remotely well to begin with. I have faith in these guys on finally fixing the ride. I joked with them the other day and asked "You sure you just don't want to bring Vekoma back in to fix the ride?" They gave me a stern look and said "No......".

Something tells me that we won't see another Vekoma ride come to SFOG soon.

Yeah, counting maintenance has a say so on what they want at the park designer wise, since they are the ones who have to fix it... Hey, you don't see me complaining!

Sean,

I agree with CuBlink that you will not be disappointed in SFoG. IMO, it is the best landscaped SF park that I have ever been to (granted folks I haven't been to all of them, that's just what I have experienced). They also have a pretty darn good variety of coasters, even without DejaVu.

I really enjoy the Simpsons. It's just a shame that I am starting to LOOK like Homer.

Isn't it the only stand up coaster in the South East? Chang is kinda midwest. :)

haux, PCar has an *eh* Beemer stand-up...;).

But I think Ga Scorcher is really the best stand-up not in SoCal...:)

And while you could be disappointed to miss DV, the other coasters at the park, and the park itself, more than make up for the loss.
