The Park Overall +4
General Comments: Being as though it was a friday
nite, I doubt the crowds were anywhere near as bad as the Summer Saturday crowds. Nevertheless, there were *quite* a few folks roaming around. Upon arrival at the gate (circa 8pm, park closed at midnite), I saw the ticket line was off the hook. Thank goodness for the seasons pass! I walk in and see that the park is decked out for Fright Fest, much better than SFA's attempt. Right at the entrance, in the fountain, they
had a fake Jaws ripping some poor guy. The
halloween/harvest-time theming was very thick
throughout the park, which made for great atmosphere. It kinda got me a bit, because I've never been to any park before ONLY at night. Makes me wonder what it looks like in the day. I could mention some other things, like how it is almost impossible to keep your eyes on the road with S:UE right there, but I get to what you want to hear about, the coasters (in order of riding).

Villian: CCI steel structured, double out&back woodie +4.2
For what may be the first time, I think a coaster
actually lived up to *most* of the talk. I decided that I was going to go straight to the front for my first ride. While in line (~1hr) they added the 2nd train. I think I rode in the red/black one first. Anyway, it's hard for me to belive that this is an out and back style coaster because it has more laterals than some twisters (I LOVE air-filled twisters!). It even ends with a great double up. Add to that there was fog drifting all around from smoke machines and I
was greatly pleased =]. My one complaint is the same one everyone has, the trains. The 'G' trains track WONDERFULLY, but they were NOT built with laterals in mind. I STILL have a sensitve spot on my thigh even as I type. The painful slamming isn't as bad in the last seat, but the airtime is not as great (good not great). Last comment, though it does shake you around (not fun =(), it doesn't really hurt you either (like Villian =] *rubbing leg*).

Moving on, I walked past the Big Dipper, which was
sadly SBNO (for the rest of the season so I hear). So I go over to the first coaster in 10 years that I have been afraid to ride.
Superman:Ultimate Escape - Intamin LIM vertical Shuttle +2
I was scared and not ashamed of it. The wait should have only been about 20min, but I wasn't sure that I would ever be able to psych myself into it again, so I waited the extra 20min for the front. I dont have much to say about it other than it was much more fun than scary/thrilling. What I though would be my favorite part was actually my least favorite, the one second pause. Being used to leaving a little slop b/w self and harness, I found my groin region making a sudden stop against the restraint (so not fun...). But all in all decent.

I still had some time left so I decided to just walk around the park, soaking in atmosphere, and making my way back to Villian. Somehow I found myself next to:
Mind Eraser - Vekoma Boomerang 0
Funny, I really like Invertigos, however, this
generally blew. It avoids the negative, because there was nice hang time in the second part of the cobra roll going backwards. Well, at least I got the count *cha-ching*.

Walking further up the midway, I had the unique
pleasure to run into "ThrillerMan". He had on a shirt that stated that he'd ridden Serial Thriller 5600 times over the last three years (not the kid!). Anyway, after some conversation, he treated me to a front seat ride on "his ride":
Serial Thriller - Vekoma SLC +2
Okay really it's only a +1 but the company made it a +2. The location is very nice, and I love the
heartshaped 'rollover'. However, this SLC headbangs more than SFA's Mind Eraser, but bounces arou搀 氀攀猀猀 琀栀愀渀 匀䘀䬀䬀✀猀 吀㈀⸀⸀⸀愀渀漀琀栀攀爀 ⨀挀栀愀ⴀ挀栀椀渀最⨀ 㰀戀爀㸀 㰀戀爀㸀䄀昀琀攀爀 琀栀愀琀Ⰰ ∀吀栀爀椀氀氀攀爀䴀愀渀∀ 愀渀搀 䤀 挀氀漀猀攀搀 琀栀攀 渀椀最栀琀 漀甀琀 眀椀琀栀 愀 昀爀漀渀琀 猀攀愀琀 愀渀搀 愀 戀愀挀欀 猀攀愀琀 ⠀昀椀渀愀氀 琀爀愀椀渀⤀ 爀椀搀攀 漀渀 嘀椀氀氀椀愀渀⸀  䤀昀 礀漀甀 栀愀搀渀✀琀 最甀攀猀猀攀搀Ⰰ 嘀椀氀氀椀愀渀 眀愀猀 洀礀 昀愀瘀漀爀椀琀攀 爀椀搀攀 椀渀 琀栀攀 瀀愀爀欀⸀  䐀漀甀戀氀攀 䰀漀漀瀀 眀愀猀 挀氀漀猀攀搀 ⠀眀栀礀㼀⤀ 愀渀搀 䤀 搀漀渀琀 爀椀搀攀 ✀昀愀洀椀氀礀✀ ⠀爀攀愀搀 欀椀搀搀椀攀⤀ 挀漀愀猀琀攀爀猀 瘀攀爀礀 漀昀琀攀渀 猀漀 刀漀愀搀刀甀渀渀攀爀✀猀 䔀砀瀀爀攀猀猀Ⰰ 眀愀猀 漀昀昀 琀栀攀 氀椀猀琀⸀ 㰀戀爀㸀 㰀戀爀㸀䄀氀氀 椀渀 愀氀氀Ⰰ 䤀 爀攀愀氀氀礀 攀渀樀漀礀攀搀 洀礀 㐀 栀漀甀爀猀 椀渀 琀栀攀 瀀愀爀欀⸀ 䤀 搀椀搀渀琀 爀攀愀氀氀礀 渀漀琀椀挀攀 琀漀漀 洀甀挀栀 氀椀琀琀攀爀Ⰰ 愀渀搀 琀栀攀 漀瀀猀 䤀 爀愀渀 椀渀琀漀 眀攀爀攀 渀椀挀攀⸀  伀渀 洀礀 昀椀爀猀琀 嘀椀氀氀椀愀渀 爀椀搀攀Ⰰ 琀栀攀 漀瀀 瀀甀猀栀攀搀 洀礀 戀愀爀 搀漀眀渀 琀栀愀琀 攀砀琀爀愀 挀氀椀挀欀 ⠀渀漀琀 爀攀愀氀氀礀 猀琀愀瀀氀攀搀Ⰰ 戀甀琀 挀氀漀猀攀 攀渀漀甀最栀⤀ 愀渀搀 栀攀 愀挀琀甀愀氀氀礀 愀瀀漀氀漀最椀稀攀搀⸀ 䤀✀瘀攀 渀攀瘀攀爀 猀攀攀渀 琀栀愀琀 戀攀昀漀爀攀⸀  䄀氀猀漀Ⰰ 琀栀攀 挀爀漀眀搀猀 眀攀爀攀 瘀攀爀礀 爀愀挀椀愀氀氀礀 洀椀砀攀搀⸀  䤀琀 椀猀 猀挀攀渀攀猀 氀椀欀攀 琀栀愀琀 琀栀愀琀 洀愀欀攀 洀攀 戀攀氀椀攀瘀攀 琀栀愀琀 琀栀攀爀攀 椀猀 栀漀瀀攀 昀漀爀 琀栀椀猀 挀漀甀渀琀爀礀 愀昀琀攀爀 愀氀氀 ⨀挀甀攀 挀漀爀渀礀 洀甀猀椀挀⨀⸀  䄀渀礀眀愀礀Ⰰ 琀栀愀渀欀猀 昀漀爀 爀攀愀搀椀渀最 㴀崀⸀  䤀✀氀氀 栀漀氀氀愀⸀ 㰀戀爀㸀氀愀琀愀Ⰰ 㰀戀爀㸀樀攀爀攀洀礀

I have not read a TR this positave about SFO for a while. I guess The Villian really makes this park what it is. I have ridden Ghostrider plenty of times (about 40 this summer) so I would really love to ride its offspring.

ThrillerMan...5600 rides on Serial Thriller.... yowsa!!

"This coaster shimmys more than my old 1983 AMC Concord did if I tried to go more than 70mph." LOL!!! Great reference!!

-------------
Gotta ride 'em all!
Isn't the SLC at SFO like a bigger version?? With like 7 inversions?

As someone who generally likes SFO, but does like picking nits with it (because my home park is Kennywood, which blows it away in many aspects), it's NICE to see a positive trip report about SFO. Gives me hope for the future of this park. :)

(Now, to be fair, 2Hostyl didn't see those narrow midways JAMMED with people in the middle of summer, either ;) )

Serial Thriller was intended to be a custom designed Vekoma 7-inversion inverted. That got cut, but, it is 125ft. tall, while other SLC'S are I believe 98-102 ft tall, is much faster, and the drop is steeper.
Thanks a bunch for the info. Mongoose!
