SFO 9-23

Associated parks:
None

Me and a few friends headed over to SFO this past Saturday, first time for me, wow it was great, it was walk on for everything in the park. The weather was great it stoped raining right when we pulled up and it warmed up to about 75-80 degrees! At one time we were on the superman all by our selfs in the front two rows. We rode everything in the park atleast one time. We got the front of the Batman 2 times in less then 15 minutes, that was the only ride that we had to wait for, if your planning a trip to SFO make it a saturday in September/October from what I saw!
Right-on,I am going this saturday hopefully it is the same way for me.
I am heading up this Friday and I don't expect large crowds at all.

Relic: What'd you think of the Villain? Wasn't it awesome?

Saturdays are defintely not the best day to go in the summer, but toward the end of September and October, it is a little more crowded than Friday nights. I expect a major drop in attendance next year for SFO unless they put in a high class coaster.

Countless number of people who were dissatisfied won't be coming back next year and season pass sales will drop. Trust me.

Yeah, Rob, we get it. You don't like Cedar Point. So far you've managed to work that in to every post you can, including a trip report posted more than a month after the fact. At the same time, you haven't contributed to anything else in the forums. If getting a rise out of Point fans is all you're interested in, I'd invite you to keep it on RRC.

Thanks.

I'd actually rather go to SFO where I wouldn't have to wait 2 hours for every coaster. But then again there is Millennium Force.
Really, Rob. So, enlighten us, what was the purpose of re-posting your CP and SixFlags Ohio TR. Why those two specific ones. Why not the other amusement parks we have not heard about, but yet you continue to re-post your TR on Cedar Point and SixFlags Ohio on various coaster forums. Those CP fans out there are not going to stop going just because YOU dont like CP. Dude, Im not flaming you at the least, but it kinda gets old and repetitive when you keep shouting "CP sucks and SixFlagsOhio rules".
I was at CP on Sept 22 for the Fri night...it was amazing! Got 8 rides on MF (which is the reason I went in the first place) and 2 on Raptor and 1 on front of Mantis. It was awesome, and I found out how to ride MF to get maximun airtime. Anyhoo, it was off to SFO on Sat. from 12-8pm. It was *deserted*! Wow, and the surprising thing was, the entire park was open except for the Ferris Wheel! I mean, everything! RWB was down most of the day, but opened up later. I think we got like 10 rides on BKF, 8 on SUE, 8 on Villain, 6 on Big Dipper, etc....It was unreal. The weather no doubt played a major part keeping the folks away. We left at 7:15pm when the rides closed for weather (did you know they haave to stop SUE midride if lightning is detected?! That was cool, I thought), and headed back to CP, which closed at midnight. It absolutely POURED on the way back, we actually had to pull over and stop for 15mins because visiblility was so low. So anyway, the rains stops as we enter CP and we get in line for Raptor which had no line at all. Get up to the station, waiting for the last row, and BOOM! The power went out!! It was awesome. So we get our ride on Raptor after a slight delay and head over to Magnum for a night ride, when it decideds to go DDS (down due to something :)). We left and headed back to the big MF, Millennium Force. Get in line at 11:05pm and the line was to the Pepsi machines. Sign said an hour...yeah, right. It took 35 mins! Line really moves well, something I love so much about Cedar Point. We rode it and had time for one more ride, where we went back to MF for the last ride of the night. Island lights off, row 5.2 right....wow. I hit my hand on a support! :) Greatest ride ever built (and I've been on SROS at SFNE) and I just can't get enough of it. I'll be back to SFO on Oct 14 for the ACE event and then leaving SFO to go to CP unti
JC here has captured the true essence of an enthusiast, and I am glad someone has.

Rob, get over yourself. Coasters are fun, that's our reason for loving them. If any of CP's coasters were at SFO, would you be complaining so much about them right now? No, you're complaining about CP because it's the "cool" thing to do. "Hey, this park has the most coasters and they like to make that known, so let's take every opportunity we can to rip them apart..."

Yes, I've worked at CP for a few years....so? Out of my favorite coasters...very very few of them are at CP. In fact, out of my top ten steel and top ten wood combined, only 3 out of the 20 are at my home park, where I spend most of my time, and their rankings aren't extremely high. So why do I spend time there anymore? Because I love the atmosphere. People have a good time when they come to Cedar Point, and why do we have long lines? Because we get higher attendance than SFO. If as many people were in line for SUE as there always were for MF, that line would be in the four-five hour range, while MF's was below two most of the time. Even Mantis with its stacking and known capacity problems beats out Batman Knight Flight in capacity. So as for complaining about lines, it's a moot point, because proportionally, our lines move much faster, we just happen to have more people to move through them. (wonder why that is...)

Anyway, I'm usually not vocal about this. I understand others' opinions, and if they don't like a park, that's fine. There is, however, no reason to completely bash that park into the ground at every chance you get. How often do you hear me complain about operation procedures or lack of employee interest at SFNE? Maybe I said something once, and this is something that really gets on me when I go there. Yet, I still give the park my money...why? Because I love the coasters.

Well said, Natalie! You've got a great perspective on things.

Ugh, Rob, please read my entire post. I raved about BOTH CP and SFO, because I had such a great time at both! Stop reading what you want to read. I am *NOT* a person who goes to the park looking for trouble. I have been to 35 different parks this year alone, and not *ONE TIME* did I ever want to leave any of them. The worst park visit I had was at SFNE because basically every ride was down for some reason, but you know what? I still had fun because I was riding what I love to ride...coasters. Maybe it's me, but I think that's what being a "coaster enthusiast" is all about.

Again, Nat, thanks for noticing that some people actually like riding coasters...it's almost funny why some people continue to ride at some parks.

Joe C. -- who can't think one one single park he would hate returning to. They all are great in their own respects!
No I'm saying it because he's not turning it into a pissing match over which park is better or which coasters are better or who is a better enthusiast, which is all crap. He's just saying he loves to ride. And what is wrong with that?

I hardly consider myself a "Pointie" seeing as how I recognize the faults in my home park and do not consider any of the coasters there to be real favorites of mine. I love that park in the same way I love Busch Gardens Williamsburg or Busch Gardens Tampa or Knoebel's or Holiday World or Lake Compounce or Kennywood. Which is a whole lot. The point here is, all parks are awesome, and rather than sit here and complain about everything in any given park, I'm here and I'm at parks so that I can ride and discuss my love of coasters and amusement parks in general, not so that I can criticize them.

As for Cedar Point putting money in my pocket...you'd have to see my paychecks, lol. Plus, they only put money in my pocket for about 3 months out of the year. And what about those other parks I mentioned...the ones that TAKE MONEY OUT of my pocket? I still love those just as much as I love Cedar Point. Anyway, my main point (NO PUN INTENDED) is that we all have good and bad days at parks, but the main issue should be that we go to parks to have fun, and if it isn't the best experience of our lives, so what? Maybe next time will be better. At least you got to experience the unique coasters offered at the park, and isn't it all about the experience?

And as for complaining about the park making you "cool," I know what most people on RRC's opinions of CP are, and I just try to avoid the topic when with them. I like everyone from that NG, and so far nobody has insulted me for working there or for sometimes admitting that god forbid I enjoy it there.

Really sorry if I'm offending you with any of this, Rob, you know I have no personal problem with you and I don't want to make any of this personal
What's going on here? What's all this noise???

It seems as though everytime that a CP or SFO trip report surfaces, it seems to turn into a pissing match?? What exactly are you buzzers trying to prove???

Speaking from the majority of the audience, I could care less if you prefer SFO over CP (or vice versa). I know what I like, and I don't need the inflection of some people on this thread to pound it down my throat, so save your carpals from aching.

Reading some of these posts, I'm finding myself checking if my locator is at algore.com or georgedubbaya.com! This is not a political match, it's a coaster forum. Can't we all just ride and get along?

Serial Thriller over Raptor? HA! That's funny. Although I do like SLC's (if I'm riding in the front) I would pick Raptor 10000000000 times more than riding an SLC. Just my opinion, don't take it personally.
