SFNE's new rides

What made SFNE's log flume any different from others?

Nice to hear that the park is getting two new rides (new rides that I would definitely have welcomed at Great Adventure) but it's a shame the flume has to go. Few things beat a good flume.

The log flume was definitely a good ride, it just needed to get some decent theming.

SFNE was having a lot of problems with the ride. One of the sides that dispatches the logs was breaking down so much that they eventually just closed that side down completely. There were some other problems and the capacity was awful because only one side was working. In the end, it wasn't really worth keeping, especially considering it was becoming so expensive. Wish there was someway they could've kept it, though.

Was it a regular log flume? I remember riding it years and years ago (back in the Riverside days) but I don't remember too much about it. It is/was located by the Ferris wheel, right?
Yup, Same Flume, I dont think it had bad capacity. Im Suprised by its removal since they repainted it last year...A Shame it was a decent flume, enjoyed it on my last ride this summer. Never saw both platforms used so I dont know when that was closed for good.

How can a log flume have poor capacity? Don't the logs flow through the ride at a constant speed? You have to have a pretty bad park in order to mess up log flume operations... then again, it IS SFNE!
It's from Poland, or at least the springs are.

RGB, who can get away with that remark since he's half-Polish.

Log flumes have always had poor capacity....that's why SFoT has TWO of them with the divided station set-up....

SWAT....just awesome. Congrats to the SFNE crowd. See if you can't get the operations folks to "kick it up a notch" though...;)

As far as Diablo Falls, I *finally* got a ride on one of those at Cypress about a month ago...with the sticky-pads in place, that thing spun like CRAZY. Even with the *orientation* of going down the trough, I turned a pleasant shade of green about a third of the way down...

SFNE has the rides...the operations, OTOH, esp. with the virtual queueing mismanagement, leave a LOT to be desired...IMO.

I would agree that SFNE does have the rides, but the operations are pretty bad, sometimes. There have been times, like when I first visited this summer, that I had a flawless trip. Other times, I thought that I probably should have skipped going to the park and just sat around doing nothing the entire day. It fluctuates. It also depends on the crowds. SFNE is becoming very popular, mostly since the competition is pretty weak up here. All the other parks are geared towards families, and the next closest "thrill" park is SFGadv, and that just isn't a convenient trip for most people. I don't think SFNE can handle the amount of people it's getting. The park layout isn't that good, and, as I said before, operations can sometimes be bad, which seems to happen more on busy days. However, with the addition of SWAT and Diablo Falls, SFNE may have one of the better overall ride selections in the SF chain. One thing that the staff at SFNE does do well is keep their rides open consistently. The only rides that recieved significant downtime this year were Chaos (every Chaos in the world had bad downtime this year), Houdini, and Joker's Jinx (the state closed both of them down, the rides would have worked fine). Nightwing had a little downtime late in the year, but that was it. Most rides were up pretty much the entire year.

As for the log flume, most flumes don't have great capacity to begin with, but when you throw into account that one side of the flume was consistently having problems all year, that screws up capacity. Once they completely gave up trying to fix it, that, in my opinion, sealed the flume's fate. Too bad, it was pretty good.

Slammer at Thorpe Park was an awesome ride. Very cool sensation of flying towards the ground. It did take some time to load, but it appeared to be very popular there and had a decent wait time.

I'm still a bit reluctant to ride one again after seeing Slammer strand all riders upside down for almost 15 minutes. Its not like a Top Spin that will just straighten itself out if it had to e-stop. Apparently, it just stops whereever it lands and has to be realigned manually.

Aside from that, the ride was a lot of fun.

Oh boy, am I excited. I rode SWAT and Diablo Falls during the ACE spring con a few years back, and I loved them both. Since SFNE is the second closest large park to me (only an hours drive), I'll definitely make the trip more often to ride those two great rides.
I'm really excited about this as well. SFNE has needed a flat like SWAT for awhile and Diablo Falls is a pretty good water ride. Both of these rides will be upgrades. Looks like I'll be making several stops this year.
REALLY offtopic, but i find this rather funny.

Anyways, congrats to SFNE on getting swat & Diablo falls, Im hoping to do a trip that way during the summer.
