SFNE Superman trains

One of the guys from one of the unofficial Six Flags New England sites submitted this as a news story, but it's not quite that newsworthy I don't think. In a story about the Six Flags bankruptcy option the local paper posted a photo of the "reimainged" trains for Superman...

Looks like they did the right things after that awful leg holding hack. The hump on the seat keeps you from sliding forward while the U-shaped lap bars keep you from moving laterally.

Not a bad solution. It looks like maybe the seats are more bucket like as well? Purple trains though?

Purple trains to go with the new color scheme.

Reminds me a lot of the Arrow restraints on rides like Magnum and Gemini that have been used successfully for years.

I like the comment "the cost of concessions are either staying the same or going down this year". I hope Cedar Fair and others think the same way.

I'd rather be in my boat with a drink on the rocks, than in the drink with a boat on the rocks.

I was reading that there is a recent viral marketing campaign between SFGAdv's Medusa and SFNE's S:ROS. There might have been some talk about it here over the winter and I missed it. I see they are being painted alternate colors, but does the 216 miles that separates the two parks not mean anything?

Welcome back, red train, how was your ride?!

Yes, Lex Luthor and Clawshun Indistries have had much to say about the RoS re-do, but I've seen VERY little in regards to the Medusa "fix" (absolutely nothing about Medusa from Clawshun). Not sure what the distance between the parks has to do with it, I think SF has just gone bonkers in upgrading existing attractions... *shrug*

Actually Gator, Clawshun is very tied ot the Medusa re-do as well.

You gotta keep up, my man. :)

^Wow, I am out of the proverbial loop. I blame school... ;)

School will do that to you. Bastards!

The media kit the SFNE sent out was cute. It had a Clawshun foam ball in the shape of a hardhat, a fake newspaper and a USB drive with some silly little video clips of some kid talking. While neat for a moment, it didn't really compell you to take any further action, like check a Web site or call for more information or whatever.

The new color scheme doesn't seem right... doesn't match what I expect of a Superman ride. Not that I was nuts about the red and blue, but that was Superman's colors. Blue and purple? Nice, but not very appropriate.

...But what about the comic/cartoon version of Lex Luther. I think that he wears those colors at some point.

But who really cares about Lex Luther? How are we supposed to ride Lex Luther around in the sky? He's a human who can't fly. First a Terminator coaster made of wood and now a high-flying coaster themed after a lackluster villain of whom fans were tired of after the last Superman movie.

I better add something about the trains because what I said so far was WAYYY off topic...

I really like the lapbars. They seem safer than the T-shaped bars. I really don't like the high backs though. "Lets figure out how we can obstruct the riders view even more than we have to." I don't really care about on ride music either.

Think you're being just a tad literal with your interpretation? ;)

Yes Gonch.

I just googled Lex Luther and it appears that he does wear those colors. He also has a flying suit in one picture and some jet shoes in another. So he CAN fly...lol.

I wonder if the storyline will go something like this? ...Lex's company rebuilds Superman's coaster, but secretly, it's a trap (fire effects, for example?), and riders find themselves needing to be saved by the Christ-like Superman once again?

Why do I think of Barney the big scary dinosaur when I see those colors? lol

Medusa in its new colors is also shocking for me to see.

If I'm not mistaken, the high back seats have audio, right?

They have speakers, one on each side of where ones head would go. I don't know if the park has actually revealed any details of each coaster's conversion yet. People are talking about it, and that's what the chain wanted.

What could the new name for the coasters be? Lex Luther's Ultimate Escape? Clawshun Catastrophe? The Lexcorp Laser?

Bazarro and Doomsday are cooler villains. Either one would make a cooler theme for a Superman coaster, imo, But it'll be very interesting to see what they came up with as far as storyline and ride name.

I like the music on X2, but my small complaint is that you can only hear it on the lift hill and when you pull into the station. It would have been cooler if you could hear music during the entire ride. The flamethrowers are pretty cool but you only see and feel them for a couple seconds. I have never seen the lighting or fog effects either. The new trains were needed, but the rest of the remodel seems unneccessary to me. All it really needed were the new trains and a paint job. But X2 is my favorite coaster so I shouldn't complain too much. I wonder if you will be able to hear music on S: ROS during the entire ride. I wonder the same thing about TS: TC.

My mother (1946-2009) once asked me why I go to Magic Mountain so much. I said I feel the most alive when I'm on a roller coaster.

I don't know if things have changed or maybe it's not consistent. I've rode X2 11 times and they were all the same. The music has stopped as soon as you reach the top of the lift hill and has came back on when you exit the raven turn at the end of the ride. Your guess is as good as mine.

So have they changed the music selection on X2 or is it still Metallica, Beastie Boys, and Frank Sinatra?

My favorite MJ tune: "Billie Jean" which I have been listening to alot now. RIP MJ.
