SFNE and LC - Split up the day, or not?

nasai's avatar
I am typically loathe to these kinds of threads, however, I'm going to both parks on July 5th-6th.

The question is really simple. If I were to only have one day to go to both parks, is it 1) doable, and 2) insane to try? I know they aren't that far apart. The main issue I see is that LC closes on either day at 7pm. *sigh*

Thoughts anyone? If so, explain your thinking. It's very much appreciated.

Also, I'm thinking it might be a better idea to go to LC early, then hit SFNE late? Does this matter? How does the Qbot work, and does it work later in the day?

Well with LC closing at 7pm there are no night rides on Boulder Dash to worry about missing. I suggest starting at LC then ending your day at the later-closing SFNE. Your biggest challenge will be afternoon rush-hour traffic in the Hartford area. There is a alternate route north to Agawam west of Hartford but because it is local highway I'm not sure it's faster, at least the one time I drove it.

Quassy is also close to Compounce and you can knock out the 2 credits in 30-45 mins top plus drive time. FYI they require two riders in each Monster Mouse car so that might prove problematic.

Have fun!!

It's doable-I did this and was able to get prolly 7-8 rides on the Dash as well as all the rides at LC before heading out to SFNE. As Moosh suggested the biggest issue is the traffic which added around 30 minutes to the drive time. Once we got to SFNE there was still enough time to hit all the non-cloned coasters and 4 rides on S:ROS-3 of them at night.

Granted I would only do this if you're going for the coasters alone at SFNE. I actually went back the next morning to SFNE and was bored with the typical selection of flats and clones (as well as the typical Six Flags Operations :))and left in a few hours anyway. So it's doable for sure, unless you really want to ride the SLC ;)

According to LCs website, the park is open to 8 on most days. It is open to 9 on Friday and 10 on Saturday. This shouldn't affect your plans, however, if you start with LC and go to SFNE later.

The reason for the early closings at LC is that the park is relatively uncrowded most days and much of the emphasis is on the water attractions which tend to close early at most parks.

IMHO it's not doable and with the holiday weekend, well you'll see.

It took me a hour just to get in SFNE's parking lot

Ummm...how is July 5th and 6th part of the holiday weekend when July 4th is on a Tuesday? Sure the parks will be crowded...it's summer. But I would expect the largest crowds to be Sat-Tues July 1-4.
Skip SFNE and spend the extra time at LC. You'll save yourself the headache of getting to SFNE and having to endure SFNE.

Try to do both on July 5th, starting with LC. If you don't get your fill of SFNE, go back on July 6th. :)

I've never used a q-bot, so sorry, no info there. Have fun, buddy. Make sure to grab a back seat ride on Cyclone for me! :) Oh, and make sure to try Swat or whatever SFNE calls it. I think YOU will love it, knowing your taste in flat rides.
