SFMW Online adds new photos of Marine World construction

Posted | Contributed by Brian Grapes

On April 21, 2001, I was able to make a trip out to Six Flags Marine World to check out the construction of V2: Vertical Velocity. I am excited to report that several of the very large supports for the two spikes have been erected. It looks like they have installed most of the track for the station as well. There were a few other pieces laying around in the construction site.

Wow... great photos! I like the close-ups of the "plungers."

It's interesting that they ship the trains with bogies and seats detached. I suppose together transport would be awkward, and you don't want to mess up the fins that fit between the LIM's (not much room there).

I agree Jeff, Excelent Pictures! What sort of media device do you use to capture the pictures? Very impressive Brian!

Thanks for the kind words! I use a Polaroid PDC-700 digital camera to take my pictures. It doesn't have too many features, but will work just fine until I can save the money for a better one.

yes those are wonderful pics. construction is going fast i assume since theres only like a month until the opening. i agree that spotlight machine will probably be used for the opening of V2.

are you ready to go vertical... v2... SFMW... 2001
That's not a spotlight machine to be used for the opening of V2. It'a a halogen spotlight that worker's use to light the area while they work at night. The company I work for uses them all the time.
