SFMW Online adds new photos of Marine World construction

Posted | Contributed by Brian Grapes

On May 6, 2001, I was able to take a trip to Six Flags Marine World in Vallejo, California. I have quite a bit of news to report.

The back, non-twisted spike of V2: Vertical Velocity is now complete and the station has been receiving some work. On the other side of the park, there is some extremely interesting construction for a skycoaster. Yes, you read that right. The park is adding a skycoaster, but it is unknown at this time when it will open. The new Cougar Rocks exhibit is almost complete and should be open within the next couple of weeks.

Hey. I was there on the 6th as well. It looks like you're going to get a great view of the vertical spiral from Monsoon Falls. It's kind of nice that they have a thrill ride somewhat on the inside of the park instead of parasitically attaching itself like Medusa or Roar. I didn't see the Skycoaster construction anywhere but I didn't look everywhere...so there you have it.
Cool, V2 should be a great ride. The one at SFGAm seems to be coming along alot faster, though on second thought they probably started ealier.

Just FYI, this address cant be found: http://www.sfmwonline.f2s.com/
Maybe it's just me, but: http://www.sfmwonline.com works fine.
Yeah, the F2S address is on the old server. It seems to almost always be down, which is why I decided to get a domain as soon as possible.

V2 looks awsome! I can't wait to ride it on Memorial Day weekend!!! I'm goin to SFMW on Friday, May 25th! Will there be the asme amount of cars on the train for V2 as S:UE cause if they are, in the front row, there won't be much of a freefall cause the ride is smaller that the one at SFO.
The seats will probably be the same as the ones on S:UE, but i don't think it will affect the drop as much as it seems, and even if it does i don't think it will detract from the ride experience

Has the ride ever touched the top dampener on S:UE?

Your photos look great. I'm not to excited on the Sky Flyer addition. It will be interesting where they end up putting though.

No Lapbar, No Seatbelt, No Problem!
Hey, I'm going to there on the 18th and will get some pictures on the rides and of the new skycoaster. I'll try to post them somewhere.
I was there over Spring Break and Vertical Velocity didn't even look like it was going to open anytime soon...That is awasome that is gonna open this weekend! The skycoaster seems pretty darn cool! I think SFMW is already getting to be like a PGA...to be honest most of the rides there are better but PGA has more rides. Also the rides at PGA are so much shorter than the ones at Marine World!
