Today was my second visit to SFMW for the 2002 season and it was great! I finally got to ride the new V2 and I will give it a little review here in this TR:
Well, we got to the park at around 9:30am, but by the time we got to the front gate, it was 9:50 and they were already letting people into the park. We finally got into the park and headed right to Medusa. We got in line for the front row and we only waited about 15 minutes. Medusa was great as always and it seemed a lot faster too for some reason! The train seems to just fly through the sea serpent and the zero g roll when it used to go through at a slower speed, unless I just thought it did. BTW, loading and unloading times were greatly improved on Medusa today! When one train was just hitting the brake run, the other train was already on its way up the lift! Finally!
After a great ride on Medusa, we headed over to Vertical Velocity. V2 was a walk on for most rows, so me and my friend got right in line for the 4th row. The air gates opened and we stepped onto the new padded floor that is actually a nice feature for the ride since you don't have to literally hop up into your seat anymore. Once the operators had checked our restraints and the all clear signal was given, we were launched out of the station and up through the new slanted twist! Since we were close to the front, we stalled partially on our side and partially up side down! We completely came up, out of our seats and it was a great feeling! We finally started backwards and were launched up through the back vertical spike! It still provides great "floating" sensations even though it had 35ft. cut off of it during the off season for the redesign. The, we shot back through the station and flew all the way through the twisted spike and up onto the straight piece of track. It takes a while for the train to finally stall and start backwards, but that gives you a chance to look around the park! We finally flew backwards through the twist which is pretty intense before shooting up the back spike for the second time. Then, the hold came! Man this is scary! I knew it was coming, but it still caught me off guard! The hold really adds to the ride! Finally we went back up into the twist, stalling partially upside down and on our side again, before slowly stopping in the station. The new V2 is great and IMO, its way funner and way better than the original Impulses! I'm really glad now that MW redesigned this thing!
After two phenomenal rides on the new V2, we headed on over to Roar. Roar was finally running two trains, so we only had to wait about 5 minutes for the back rows. The airtime in the back is great and you seem to never be in your seat on Roar! It always delivers a great ride!
After Roar, we decided to see the Sea Lions and the walruses. Then we walked on over to Boomerang which was only about a 10 minute wait. Boomerang was good, well, better than Kong at least. We then decided on having lunch over at Subway. After lunch, we headed over to the Season pass processing center which was about an hour and a half wait! Ugh! Well, my Dad held our place in line, while my friend and me headed back over for another ride on Medusa! This time, the operators were holding guests right above the stairs, so when you enter the station, each row is a walk on! This is the first time I've ever seen them do this. We decided to sit in the back and it was another great ride!
Well for the rest of the day, we mainly rode Hammerhead, Tazmanian Devil, Roar one more time, V2 another time and Medusa one more time. We also rode Wave Swinger had a few snacks and played some games! Overall we had a great day at MW and I was happy to finally ride the new V2! Well that was our day!
