SFMM&National Lampoon's Vacation

In National Lampoon's Vacation they go to "Walley World". This park is now SFMM but who owned it when they filmed the movie?

At the time of the filming Magic Mountain was owned and operated by a company called Newhall Land and Farming. They were the builders of the park. Seaworld was partnered in it early on but sold out within the first year as I recall.

Isn't that the same park in one of the Beverly Hills Cop's movies?

And the same park in Space Cowboy's. Also the same park was in the Step by Step theme song every week. Oh well some pointless information for you.

No , the park in Beverly Hills Cop III was PGA. Paramount owned movie, Paramount owned park.

MM was the last park in the movie "Rollercoaster" and Revolution was the ride that Timothy Bottoms was killed on, in the end of the movie.

MM was also in a couple of "CHiP's" episodes.

Yes someone finally mentioned CHiP's. I love that show. Does anyone know if Revolution was called "Revolution" in Rollercoaster? It was "Whipper Snapper" in NLV I believe.

Chevy Chase called it "the Loop da Loop", when they were nabbed by the SWAT team they went under an entrance that said "Whipper Snapper", but I don't think that was the entrance to Revolution.

"Screemy Meemy" checked carefully to get the proper spelling, was Colossus.

In "Rollercoaster", George Segal points to a newspaper where it says "The Revolution". Several other references to the ride called it "The Great American Revolution", and they had a plane skywrite "Revolution".

I have never seen the movie, but the latest 3 ninjas movie is called 3 Ninjas: High Noon at Magic Mountain. I am sure it takes place there most of the movie. I just know Hulk Hogan is in it.

The "Revelution" was opened in 1976 and was indeed originally called "The Great American Revolution" at that time. After the Bicentennial fever wore off the name was changed to simply"The Revelution".

Actually punk the magic mountain is actually SFEG in one scene it showed the on-ride photo booth in the backround and they didn't take the sign of Twister II down

coaster ed: That was indeed the entrance to the revolution, because nearby was the entrance to 'Balles de Flores" (sp?) MM's tilt-a-whirl type ride (I dont know if it still exists but this is how te park looked when I went their way back in '87)

I've never been there, I was going by the tape, and they have no name on the coaster, and right after you come off a ride, normally you don't come out an exit that has a sign over it. Thanks for letting me know.

what they show as the entrance for the revolution in the movie, is in actuality the exit for it in real life.

"Rollercoaster" was a classic movie. I would like to see a modern day sequel of it. However, i am baffled by its PG rating because the opening scene shows the terrorist's first target and when the people fly off the track the coaster train goes upside down and u can see their heads smacking the ground. *** This post was edited by JBCoaster on 9/6/2000. ***
