SFMM Trip Tips

I prefer the right side of X because (in the back seat) coming out of the luge turn there is an amazingly huge pop of air. Amazing I tell you!

There will be an attendant where the line splits, at which point you will more than kilely not have a choice of which side to go to. I prefer the parking lot side mayself. But the last few times I've been there, the attendant doesn't allow you to choose.

I second that. ;)

Hey Craig, you don't have a choice. They have an employee sending you one way or the other depending on how long each line is.

IMHO if you only get one ride choose the front seat. That moment where you are suspended at the top of the first drop looking down is unparalleled in coasterdom!

They have an employee to split the line, but they don't have that extra op on the platform helping to dispatch trains quicker? Wow...

Actually, I think that they could go faster with the attendants that they have if you know what I mean...at least that's the impression I got the day I was there.

When I ran the Vortex at Great America the first year it was open, we were under the impression that we were lucky to be working on the new ride that year and busted our ass to make capacity. It was hard, but a lot of fun.

Didn't see that sparkle with the X crew...then again, they've probably spent more time cleaning the trains and station than you could imagine. ;)

It's not the crew that brings down the PPH on X, it's the rather time-consuming loading procedure built into the ride. There's usually 2 or 3 people per side checking restraints, which is pretty good. The size and complexity of the seats and restraints slow things down too. Even if there were always 3 trains and a lightning fast crew, the seat rotation and moving from unload to load stations would keep this a slow moving line.

It's true that the biggest factor is the ride itself, but when I was there, the restraints could have been checked a bit faster. Also, they allow guests to leave personal items with people in line so that when the train comes back in, they have to wait for the people to run from the unloading area to the loading area to pick up their stuff before bringing the train forward.

Perhaps, they could put a bank of cubbies on rollers and roll it back to the unload position...or, where the operator divides the line, place lockers there and have the line guy instruct the guests to put their stuff there.

This would save a minute per cycle.

What are the best days to go if you want to try and get a ride on X? I think its closed wednesday and most mondays and tuesdays. Is that right? So Deja Vue has been running recently? Im leaving for Cali from Ohio in about a week. I cant wait. Thanks in advance

It seems from most reports that any given weekday X may be down. It seems like they are making sure it will be open for weekends, so I suppose making sure you are there on Saturday may be your best bet for X. Sadly, that is the busiest day, but perhaps your greatest chances for X being open.

Beast rocks - Accept the fact now that you most likely will NOT get to ride X. That way if it *is* open your day will immediately improve.
