SFMM Marketing

I received a mailing today concerning SFMM "Buy a day, Play all year" promotion. While I have been a SFGAm SP holder for many years I've never had a pass from SFMM or received any mailing from them before.

Why would they do a mailing to someone in Iowa for a park that far away? Doesn't sound like a good use of marketing $$ to me.

It never ends. Not only do they give away the gate, but they spend money trying to give it away to people in Iowa!

That company is so wrong on so many levels that I just can't for the life of me understand how the board continues to be OK with the current management team.

I think its funny that they would mail someone in Iowa yet totally ignore markets closer to them.

Back in the 90's we used to always see Six Flags commercials and what not. Nowadays we get nothing at all except for random soda can advertisements. You would think they would gear this promotion towards people with a 3 to 4 hours drive. After all the Las Vegas Valley has over a million people and many of us go to the Southern California parks quite often.

...and such

If most people alreghty go there, why would SF waste marketing dollars on you. Hell, there are people in Iowa who haven't even heard of SFMM, those are the ones who they need to try and get in the gate!!!
Marketing? What marketing? Their idea of marketing principally consists of two for one admissions on the back of pop cans.
Wow, what a wierd thing to recieve.

Stupid SFMM, what are they thinking?

Huh...did anyone think maybe this was just a mistake? Its not like he was never a SF passholder before, they could have easily just sent him the wrong flyer...

But then again, some people are just looking for excuses to bash...

Well, they wouldn't bash....if the park didn't deserve bashing. :)

Also, did you every sign up for something on six flags web site. If you did you could have been added to their mailing list, and that’s why you got it.

Ok...I can see that. BUT, they show commercials and have promotions all over Southern California (they have a large local attendance base) so why not here as well?

Can't speak for the entire chain, but for SOME odd reason I get more stuff from SFGE than from all other SF parks combined...only Hershey bugs me more often, LOL.

The weird part is that of all the SF parks I've been to, some *many times over*, I have NEVER once graced their entrance....maybe it's their way of saying "come on up, we need the PR"...;)

But nobody bashes high and mighty CF for losing a million attendees at SFWOA in one year. One...million...people! An attendance drop of greater than 50 percent! Bad reputation-Six Flags messed up-no more fishies blah blah blah my ass.

I get SFFT stuff all the time in Oklahoma.

^^Well, I wouldn't say nobody...haha, SF fans just happen to be the minority, and to me, thats just fine. Its okay, I don't want CF fans along my side holding true to SF anyway...It's easy to be fan of a "so called" winning dynasty, similar to Yankees fans, although they haven't won in a couple years now...

Well, having been to SFMM quite a few times, I must say it ain't easy being an SF fan.

Cedar Fair might have lost attendence at SFWOA this past year, but I had excellent times at Cedar Point and countless great times at Knott's thanks to cleanliness, high capacity, and friendly staff.

I don't think SFMM was always this bad. It just seems they've let their rides and service go to heck.

I don't think being a fan has much to do with most of the opinions here. People don't support parks the way they support sports teams. Folks just want to have the most fun for their money. They also want to see all parks to be all that they can be. And it stinks to see an entire chain being flushed down the toilet.

Ok well Oklahoma isn't as far away from Texas as Iowa is from California...now is it?
