sfmm and knotts...please help

Hi I am traveling to California for the first and only time of my life on December 23 from Cleveland...and while I am there I will be at SFMM and KNOTTS , I was wondering what days X is open because I will only be able to go once to the park...and could you let me know which rides are best...and when??please help if you can....also cant I use my cedar Point , and SFWoA passes to get into the parks for free or will the parks not allow me in???I kinda want to know....also what is the best day to go to the parks??

All help will be really appreciated thanks alot every1 in advance :)

Both passes will work their, I'm not sure if X will be open becausse it does have breakdowns like all coasters that are unpredictable, but hopefully it is open because it is one hell of a good ride, dont forget to ride Ghostrider in the back for this first ride, and Xcelerator in the front or the back (I perfer the back for the airtime).
Arent there certain days when X is open?
I don't know if that is in effect this time of year. In the spring and summer, that day was wednesday. But like I said, its not really a sure deal what days it will be open during December.

Both parks are closed on Christmas, so keep that in mind. Its the only day of the year that Knotts is not open. :)

As for the best day, all the kids will be off on Christmas break anyway, so I'm not sure that there is a "best" day. I guess a weekday is your best bet.

Knotts Halloween Haunt- Everyone has to go sometime....

Well thanx alot....it really is helpful for me...I wasnt planning on going to the parks on Christmas anyways so really no problem there...I am really excited I am used to parks being closed that time of year :( (ex Cedar point and SFWoA) the only reason i can go is because I also am on Christmas Break ;)

but are the parks really crouded then, arent alot of ppl on vacation??

What are some other rides besides Xcelerator and Ghostrider that are good at knotts? Is the from good on Ghostrider? I probably will ride both of those front and back (if the lines arent too bad)

The Six Flags passes are good at any Six Flags park. I used my Six Flags Saint Louis pass to get into Magic Mountain without any difficulties.

As far as Knotts is concerned, there arent a whole lot of bad rides in the park. Montezuma's Revenge is always a lot of fun for more coaster thrills. You owe it to yourself to check out the Calico Mine Ride and the Log Flume (name escapes me, SIT DOWN! ;) ) They are some of the best themed attractions in California outside of Disney.

As far as Ghostrider, I rode front and back and back was wayyyy better. I did find sitting in the front seat of the back car versus sitting in the very last row gave a better, smoother ride with the same airtime.

Knott's IMHO is the best park in SoCal hands down. I can see making trips out to SoCal just for visiting Knott's. It is that good of a park.

No, the parks are usaully more crowded after Chirstmas.

Personally I prefer the back on Ghostrider, because of "the drop" which is hands down my favorite part of the coaster. However if you want a really good ride in the back, then don't go on it right away and let the coaster warm up a little, because it is a little disappointing in the morning. Oh and make sure to get some night rides on it, it is amazing in the dark.

Make sure also to hit Calico Mine Ride and Timber Mountain Log Ride (which is the name of the log flume Kick The Sky couldn't think of), and if the line isn't that bad then hit Kingdom of the Dinosaurs it is really chesey and low tech, but still fun.

Oh if you don't mind being wet when it is cooler, then definately hit Perilous Plunge, one of the best drops in the park, but accompanying it is a tidal wave of water.

There really aren't any stand out, you have to ride flat rides there, except maybe La Revolution, but it really isn't that exceptional (I would recommend Tampico Tumer but they tore it down for that pile of crap La Revolucion)
(Also maybe Hammerhead but that should already be taken down for the construction of Riptide :().

Also make sure to hit all of the other necessities (Supreme Scream, Xcelerator, and especially Montezooma's Revenge, since it is a dying breed).

Also make sure to check out the games in the Birdcage Theater, they are really cool, they are old style, and really cheap, not to mention fun.

Also eat at Mrs. Knotts Chicken dinner Restaurant, and buy some boysenberry punch concentrate at the marketplace (which they were out of when I was there, oh well, I'll pick some up at haunt).

Oh also Knott's Merry Farm should be going on, never been to it, but it looks fun.

Why3289

I went to california this summer for the exact 2 parks. If you are flying into LAX, depending what time, you could hit knotts that same day. it was like a 20 minute drive with no traffic, we got around the park and ate at a nearby Claim Jumper (really good food), and got to the park at 4. after 4 the price reduces by half-but you have your pass-so no big deal. the lines when I went weren't bad, it was a monday but in the summer. longest line was ghostrider-25-30minutes. well worth it, my favorite at knotts. other great rides are Xcellerator, Perilous Plunge, Boomerang (painful), montezooma's revenge (classic schwartzkopf), jaguar (nice family coaster), delirium (i passed, cuz i hate spinners). we got everything done in about 3 1/2 -4 hours, if.

SFMM will take a whole day. X was open when I went, but 1 train operation made it a 3+ hour wait, taking 6:40 seconds from one release to the next. flashback was not and probably will not be open. Goliath is overrated in my opinion, (great positive g's though), superman was a waste of an hour wait, scream wasn't that good, revolution ride for nostalgia reasons, ninja is good, riddler's revenge is the best stand up ever, colossus is a good woody, psyclone is rough, batman is the same as everywhere else, and X was totally worth that wait. I would have waited double the time.

again, this was summer, so all rides may not be open, and it may be more or less crowded than when I went.
