SFMM and beach location

How far is Six Flags Magic Mountain from the California coast?

Intelligence is a God given gift: Know how to use it.

You're looking at about a 30-60 minute (depending on traffic) drive down the 5 South -> 405 South, then probably heading down 10 West to the beach. Overall, you can generally expect it to take about an hour, unless traffic is very light.

If traffic is *really* bad on 405 S, you can attempt to take Sepulveda Blvd. It's usually not nearly as bad of a drive, and might make the entire trip a little more bearable. Quick directions:

From SFMM go to I-5 Southbound
I-5 splits off onto I-405 Southbound
From I-405 S, take the Burbank Blvd. exit, and turn left.

The next major street (two lights down, I believe, the first light is for the onramp to 405 N) is Sepulveda Blvd. Turn right.

Follow Sepulveda all the way down to Santa Monica Blvd, turn right.

You should be able to take Santa Monica Blvd. all the way down to the beach, find parking (the mall works well, and they have a lot right by the pier with the Pacific Park WestCoaster), and you're there.

If traffic isn't bad:

I-5 S to I-405 S
I-405 S to I-10 W
Exit 4th street, turn right
You'll be heading straight for the Santa Monica 3rd Street Promenade, find parking, and head over to the beach.

Hope you enjoy!

Oh, and you can get traffic reports every 10 minutes (at :01, :11, :21, etc) on 980 AM, KFWB. They tend to be about 15 minutes behind on all the traffic news, but it's still one of the better ways to get reliable traffic reports.

Why not go west on CA 126 to Oxnard or Ventura?

It's still a ways away, but gets you far from the cesspool known as Los Angeles.
