SFMM (3.31 (easter) 4.2)

Associated parks:
None

This was my first time to SFMM, 2nd to so cal. First i'd just like to start with the park overall, then move on over to rides.

The park- Overall i liked the rides at SFMM, but the park seemed to be like most SF parks, cramped. I like how the rides are spread out from each other, but the themed areas are just way too small. They are also very inconsistant (ex: to get from RR you must walk through cyclone bay(?) to get to BTR). I think the theming was very good, especially in the gotham city area. The park's major problem is line cutting, and not to be racist, but it seemed that the mexicans were mainly doing the cutting. The gangs are also a problem, even though they dont have weapons theyre still a problem. When the gangs (or anyone) would cut they employees wouldnt say anything to them. The line cutting is why the wait for x was 3-4 hours both days. I find the park to be very hard to walk, but i guess they give you fair warning in the name, magic MOUNTAIN

The rides-(3.31)

I decided that their would be very small crowds if i went to sfmm on easter sunday. I was right, the park was dead. I got to the park(ing lot) around 8:30ish, went to the metal detectors (2nd person in line). I don't get why they let people go past the metal detectors before they're turned on, couldnt someone just stash a weapon in the plants? Anywho, i was the 3rd person in the pass line but became the 10th after the first instance of cutting happened. After waiting a long hour i got my sfwoa pass scanned and ran like....the wind to X. I was the 3rd person in the pre-queue for X, then i became the 7th, when more line cutting appeared, then the 20th when a mexican gang just walked right up to the front and just got in line. However i did attempt to stop the kids in front of me by using the grab and lock method on the rails. They thought they would run right up to the front with their buddies, BAM an arm in the gut! That stopped him! (BTW i wasnt picking on little kids, they were only a couple years younger). The pre-queue was all the way to the stairs before the bridge. Then a worker stood on the rails and said the ride would not open for an hour at least, i heard swearing in english, spanish, and chinese (only in cal!). So i made my way over to...

Deja Vu-9/10-I only had to wait one cycle to ride this great ride. I loved every second of it! The first vertical spike is the best, it is so freaky. The rest of the ride was smooth and fast. It whipped through the cobra roll pretty fast.

I was going to ride psyclone, but it was stuck so i went over to...

Riddler's Revenge-8/10-I'm not a big fan of stand-ups, but i decided to give this one a whirl. I waited 1 train again. The theming on this ride is good, love the station, love the techno music and the lasers. I got on the ride, went up the lift, the train just stopped. I was stuck up there for a good 10 minutes, waiting for a ride op to come and have us walk down, and best of all, give us our exit pass. Then the train started moving again. The ride was fun, smooth, not painful, howver i just didn't really like it. I think all stand-ups should be turned into sit-downs.

Gold Rusher-7/10-I walked right on this arrow mine ride. it was fun, what a coaster should be. I like how the lift went under S:TE. I like how the terrain was used, all the head choppers that made me put my hands down. I just liked this ride.

I made my way down to B:TR

Batman: The Ride 5/10-I waited 2 trains to get on this. It was my first B:TR, and my last. I loved the theming, but think the gotham ghetto could be bigger, the garden is huge, then there's this little tiny section of ghetto. But the theming was nice in both parts. The batcave seemed a little....old, but still looked good. The ride however was bad. I'm not a big fan of inverts, they're only good if you're sitting in the front. I sat in the third row. The first 3 elements weren't bad, but the corkscrews hurt the bottom of my feet for some reason, so did the helix. My legs didnt hurt or anything, and this has never happened before. This ride only gets a 5 because of the great theming.

Goliath-9/10-I walked right onto this Giovanola. The first drop was great from my 2nd row seat. The turnaround was fast and the 2nd hill had major airtime. The rest of the ride was a blur, i grayed out during the double helix. It was very very intense and fun, however it was too short. I got my generic goliath shot of the letters and the ride going down the first drop.

I then ate at Mooseburger's Cafe. We were the only ones in their, i couldnt imagine what it would be like when it's full with everyone clapping to the song. The burger was good, fries were okay, bad compared to In & ;)ut.

I went up the orient express (incline). Eliminated walking all the way up the mountain. From there i went right on....

Ninja-8/10-I waited only 1 train cycle to get the front. I like this ride, it is fast and fun, and uses the terrain very well. I got hit with some liquid object during the ending, i just hope it was from the flume. The ride was great, until the very end, the long lift home. This totally kills the ride. -2 points for that.

S:TE-7/10-1 cycle wait for this ride. It didnt really matter that 1 side was closed. I got in the train which remined me of MF back home. This ride was fast, very fast, if i was wearing a baggy shirt it wouldve flown off! The hill had some airtime, but was bland. It didnt even go up 410 feet, more like 350. The superman statue even seemed very small. I went on it again and got the same feeling.

Went back down the orient and made my way over to...

Revolution-2/10-Evil OTSR!!!!!-this ride would be perfect if it had lap bars. I have no idea why this ride has OTSR's! They make the ride terrible. The headbanging is terrible on this ride. I will not ride this again until it is retrofitted with lap bars.

I then decided to go over to X and check the wait. It was 4 hours an it was 90* out, so i just decided to go on S:TE and Ninja again. Then i went towards Deja Vu again, seeing a 2 hour wait, i went on Psyclone.

Psyclone-6/10-This ride was a walk-on, it was slow, jerky, and just flat out bad. I had a headache so i decided to get one last ride on...

Goldrusher-CLOSED-Just as well, i had a headache. I got my awesome X shirt and left.

4.2.02-Mission-Xperience the Xtreme

I was bummed out about not riding X so i had a night free and decided to get to SFMM. I arrived about 5:30ish. I hoped it would be cool out, and not sunny because i had gotten some major sunburn golfing the day before.

X-10/10-I waited an hour in the hot, an hour in the cool, and an hour in the cold. It went from the high 80's/low 90's to 45 in 3 hours. I regretted changing into shorts. Well enough about that i was gonna ride X! This ride is........Xtreme....Amazing.....It's unXplainable. The lift is odd. You're backwards, facing the sky. The drop is the best on any ride, i was expecting it to flip backwards, not forwards. You flip forwards facing the track. Then you flip into a prone position for the raven turn, then there's a bunny hop which you do a complete flip. Helix in a sitting position. The rest is a cold blur, except for the inline twist. It was crazy, words cannot describe it. The 3-4 hour wait is worth the ride. Get out there and ride it. I cant wait til one of these come to the east coast. For now i have to wait 1 month 1 day for SFWoA to open.

Over all park rating-8/10-Great rides, get rid of the gangs and lien cutting and you have a perfect park!

Did you ask these kids if they are in gangs, or were they wearing colors/flashing signs that you're familiar with?

Just wondering how someone from Ohio could be so familiar with the gangs in L.A...

they were wearing bandanas and clothes the same colors, just put 2 and 2 together

WOW! X does rock! I love SFMM and I think your right about how it could be perfect but no park is perfect. Hope you have a good time next time you comeback!

-----------------
Before you criticize someone walk a mile in their shoes, then you can criticize them and you have their shoes :)

It does not mean their in gangs.
Good, possitive report! I think your the first person ever to not really like Batman! But your also probibly the only other person besides me who thinks SFMM's themeing is good! Glad you had fun!

if you saw them you would know they're in gangs

BTW: I'll have pitures from SFMM & Pacific Park posted somewhere soon, my notebook decided to crash 5 minutes after i loaded all 100some pics

First of all, it's not plural. If they belong in 'A' gang that's one thing, but don't give the false impression that there are a bunch of gangs running around SFMM threatening guests. If they were line cutting, than they should have been removed, the fact that they weren't is the fault of SFMM security(who lately seem to show up at the wrong time), but I've seen kids line cutting as well, it's just as rude no matter who does it.

Wondering if DWeaver is a professor in english. Just wondering, how is the atmosphere in the park compared to Cedar Point, for the most part does it seem to be a good crowd. Dont bash me I just want an honest answer. How are the crowds in July? Good trip report.
The atmosphere is more...relaxing than CP. There's a garden in Samuri Summit, and the coasters use the terrain more. It's totally different. It is more like BGW or BGT than a sf or cf park.

I'm confused, first you said the park is like most 6Flags parks, cramped... then you said its more like BGW or BGT, which are anything but cramped.... soooo..... what exactly are you saying.. I know you used the word "relaxing", but still I don't usually equate relaxing with cramped.

-----------------

some of the themed areas were small and cramped, Gotham City & Baja Ridge. It's hard to explain how the park "feels", pictures dont really do the park justice

Is it a pretty good family park? Is it possible to do all of the rides in one day? I like BGW themeing the best just wondering if you said how good their themeing was. If you have kids that are like eight years old is there really anything for them to do there. I hope that all six flags parks dont play the same type of music all day. So what you are saying is that it is more of a BGW or more of a CP?

SFMM has 2 kids coaster plus a tame mine train. Ninja is also tame and it would be great to have Reveloution as an 8 year old's first looper! The kids area has alot of rides, and it does have 4 water rides, 2 flumes, a rapids ride and a chute the chutes ( under rehab for a bit) It really doesn't seem like a family park but I think a youngin' could like it. SFMM only plays jazz music in the front of the park, and oreiental music quietly in Samuri SUmmit, SFMM has thier version of QTV's all over the park and in the midways of Collossus county fair, and Samurui Summit, and in several ride lines. SFMM is a theme park, so Baja Ride does plan Mexican music ( dunno now that X is there, with it's queue and bridge pumping out techno music) and Gotham of course plays Batman type music.

-------------
So what is better? SFMM or CP? I don't care! They both have 29 coasters between them that they build so we can have a good time!

Cool

I know you dont understand my name huh?????

Funny HG! Of course SFMM's coasters use the terrain more. Cedar Point is developed on FLAT land. There is NO terrain at CP! :)

Just curious, did you skip Colossus, or was it closed? I assume Flashback was also closed (as usual).

-----------------
I've traded in my 2000 Giovanola for a 2002 Arrow X4D :)
My other car is now an Arrow X4D!

i didnt feel like walking all the way back to Colossus, it was only running one side, the wait looked a bit long. And yes Flashback was closed, Flashback was one of my most anticipated coasters of the trip
