SFMM 11-10, In the rain!!

That's right folks, it DOES rain in Southern California! And you thought it was just a myth. The day started out cold and clear. By 2:00 the clouds were rolling in. By 4:00 the drops started to fall. At 5:30... cloud-burst!! Kudos to SFMM for keeping most of the coasters open in light/medium rain.
We (me and my girlfriend, Adrian) arrived at just about 10:00. There were tons of kids waiting to get in, I guess on a holiday, all SoCal schools have a Magic Mountain Day. The park was packed, for a November day.
We decided to go around to the back of the park to Riddler's Revenge first. The bulk of the crowd was already in the FULL Goliath queue. We did a front row ride(my first ever front row on this), 10 minute wait, then a row 6, walk on. The biggest, baddest, longest, loopiest standup in the world delivered yet again. What a great ride.
Next, Batman:TR. The crowd had not yet filled this queue either. Waited 20 minutes for a front row ride. Even though this has been cloned many times, I love this ride. B&M are not in the buisness of making "stinkers."
Colossus next. They were loading only one of the 2 trains, due to a gastro-intestional upheaval. (puke) Waited about 25 minutes for a back row ride. Good drops and sustained speed, between the turnarounds. The turns themselves are bo-ring. The Psyclone trains were still sitting backwards on the other side, unfortunately not open. I am kicking myself for missing out on Fright Fest.
Time to bite the bullet and wait through the full queue for Goliath. It looked like the line would not be any shorter, so we had to wait. It was running only 2 trains, so the line was a bit slower, around 1 hour. The breaks hit REAL hard before the second half of the ride. Harder than I remember from back in June. Still a great ride, though. I love it! I can't wait for Giovanola's second hyper in Texas!!
Superman:TE This is always a must-ride for me. It was a truly religious experience, rain stinging me in the face, AWESOME! Get this, NO HEADBANGING AT ALL. Maybe the rain makes the headbanging gremlins run away, I couldn't believe it. I LOVED VIPER IN THE RAIN!! GO DO IT!!
We then decided to go over to Riddler again. The park was really clearing out now that the rain was there to stay. As we were in line, however, a cloudburst hit, closing The Revenge down until further notice, but we noticed that Batman was still going, so we went there. The Batman crew stops the ride ONLY when the rain is comming down REALLY hard, then as soon as it lets up a little, they let'er rip!! As we went up the lift, the heavens let loose with a furious downpour, the likes of which I had not expected. I started singing "Singin' in the Rain" and most of the train chimed in with me. I cannot describe the rest of the ride in mere words. With the absolute drenching, I could not tell where we were or what element was next. I did continue singing/shouting my song. It was surreal. The entire train was yelling and screaming and laughing so hard after the break run, you could not even hear yourself yell. Awesome!!
After that, security told us that all rides were being shut down for the rest of the night, I was ready to leave anyway, soaked head to toe. We were ready for the car's heater, it was cold.
BTW, Flashback, Gold Rusher, Ninja, and Psyclone were all closed all day. Oh, well. The big guns were open, that's what counted. Next time I hear the weather report calling for rain in Valencia, guess where I will be headed.

good thing I didn't make the trek from vegas. I will wait until the weather is niceer. That batman ride sounded insane and I agree superman is a must ride. It rocks.
Ninja is really being closed alot latley whats up with that? Construcion? Maybe a new suspended!

I too, was at SFMM on Friday. It was one of the worst experiences I've ever had at a park. The coasters were great as always, except for the brake run on Goliath and the darn headbanging I always get on Viper, but a whole lot of the food stalls weren't even open and the park was FULL of people. Get this, they were selling frozen lemonade when the temp never reached above 65, but they closed the darn fried chicken place and the food court near Colossus? Wassup with that? Not to mention that fact that the park was SERIOUSLY understaffed in my opinion. I had a better time in the middle of JULY than I did on a Friday in NOVEMBER! I couldn't believe it. Oh well, I still think it's a great park, but they need to address a lot of issues before they can truly achieve greatness. :)
