SFKK Will Expand Hurricane Bay Next Year

This article mentions that the new ride is currently at another park.

Did they sell one of those parks and are moving rides?

Actually, it says the ride is currently NOT in use at any other six flags park.
If it truly is 'cutting edge technology not in any other SF property" my guess is a Master Blaster.

Hmmm.... A water ride "that will employ "cutting-edge technology". Could it be one of the Master Blaster or Zip water coasters?

The water park is the major draw during the summer at SFKK, so expanding it is a no brainer.

Now, if they could just find a way to get a second train on Thunder Run. :)

SNFE has a ProSlide Rocket, so that probably rules a water coaster out. There have been some rumors floating around that SFKK will be getting a Roller Soaker type coaster, only instead of a Setpoint it will be the new Splash Party from Vekoma. It's basically a wet version of the family suspended coaster, with water bombs, geysers, and water cannons just like the Setpoints.

Of course, another possibility would be a Splash Battle. No Six Flags parks has one of those, either.

Or do something about that long, practically empty path in the back of the park between T2 and Thunder Run...

Isn't that the same area where Top Eliminator Dragsters are being removed for this new water ride? I'm not getting my hopes up too high, but IMO a water coaster *IF* maintained by SF would be a great addition to SFKK.

I survived a Japanese typhoon and the Togo flat ride of death!!!!!!

SFNE's version uses conveyor belts to get the boats up the hills, a Master Blaster with the water jets would (I think) fit the bill.

That's true, the technology used to get the boats uphill would be different, and I could see them using that to claim it was unique to SFKK. (That's why I qualified my statement with a "probably." :) )

Not that it matters much to me. I think an uphill water coaster (of any type) or a Roller Soaker/Splash Party type coaster would be a great addition to the park.
