SFKK removing Superman/Hellivator!!??

I was browsing the net and I came across a couple sites stating that SFKK is going to remove their Intamin Drop ride! Is this confirmed?

This is sad news to me, as STOP was always my favorite drop tower. Its also the closest Intamin ride for me ;).

If it is being removed, what do you think will replace it?

They'll use the money to replace most of Thunder Run. Never saw a ride in worse shape.

Greezed Lightnin' is the shining star of the park, a true gem. Always a reason for me to go there.

I'm glad they're getting rid of the Hellavator. I mean it caused a very nasty incident. It's just gonna carry such a reputation - better to get rid of it, for the park anyway.

After the horrible accident last month, I would expect they would eventually remove the ride. The ride has such an awful memory attached to it now. Plus, I couldn't imagine the insurance costs of running it again. However they will obviously need to wait to finish the investigation into the accident. I also think the family filed a court injunction preventing its removal for the time being.

While this ride will forever hold a haunting story, let's just wait and see what the park will do.
